Jun. 15th, 2009 12:24 pmWe went to see Nanna yesterday and when we got there she asked if we were still going out for the day. Which was a little surprising because we'd had no firm plans to do so. Still, it was a beautiful day so we went with it, picking up Corey and heading to the beach.
It's always nice to spend time with nanna, we went to South Shields park and managed to get a seat on one of the smooth concrete sculptures created for people to sit on. The station for the small steam train was behind us, so there was a constant stream of excited children ready to get into the open carriages and head of on their three minute adventure around the pond. As always nanna's mouth-to-brain filter was missing, and she sat eating ice-cream while we watched the people walk past. Often I sat thinking, oh my god, hoping her observations didn't travel, but she also looked so content, clutching her bag and talking about things past and now, and also worrying about my cough, because that's what she does.
Eventually it got too hot to stay there and we wandered back to the car and drove along the coast, stopping at a fresh-fish store that has been extended to a cafe. We sat on the deck, which had beautiful views of the ocean and all the people who were just starting to go home, then further along the coast again where I shared a tray of chips with James and nanna had a fish and Corey fish and chips as we sat at the shore.
We got home around 6 and I sorted out Corey's uniform then pretty much zoned, too much sun, too much cough medicine, too little sleep all combining. My plans were to finish some reading, but what I did was watch the first episode of Dollhouse, which I liked a lot. I watched the next two on the DVR this morning, and yes, still liking it.
On Saturday I posted the story
sperrywink and I have been working on since last year. With people being deep into Big Bang posting and reading it's probably not the best time to be posting but it was done, and there'll always be something, so we posted. Put our Mikey/Pete/Frank against the big guns.
The story was so much fun to write. It started with us talking in comments and just grew, both of us alternating between adding 500-700 words, until we ended with nearly 15k worth of story, complete with a lot of that sex. It's more sex than I've written for a long time and often I'd read back and think, omg, did I really write that? It's been a very low-pressure and happy writing experience.
sperrywink is an excellent writer and our styles meshed well. It was an honour to write with her, and don't believe any of what you hear, the good bits are all hers. ♥

Apparently we're tackling Mikey Way/Spencer Reid next, watch out for that to be posted in about two years *g*

Date: 2009-06-15 11:38 am (UTC)It was such a honor to write with you too! We did a great job. And Our story might not have made a big splash in the BBB-filled space right now, but it is a unique threesome and not one that is getting written in the big bangs, so I'm sure people will find it, if slowly./optimist
Mmmmm, Mikey/Spencer. Two years sounds about right considering I think we will need a better plot for this one.

Date: 2009-06-15 12:02 pm (UTC)We did do a great job and you should be optimistic. There's a ton of stories to be read just now. It'll get there, and the movement to bring Mikey/Pete/Frank to the masses will begin in earnest!
Hmmmm, yes. Mikey/Spencer. You're right though, it would need an actual plot.
Sort of related. I read the Brendon/Mikey you mentioned this morning. My heart, it is broken.

Date: 2009-06-15 12:34 pm (UTC)We'll have to ponder on the whole Mikey/Spencer plot thing. I have this one image of Mikey trying to pick Spencer up in a bar in D.C. Mikey being all Rico Suave, while Spencer is adorably clueless. Finally Mikey gets bold and forthright and asks Spencer to dance, tugging him onto the dance floor where Mikey is all slinky and Spencer is all stiff and awkward. *g*

Date: 2009-06-15 03:44 pm (UTC)I think the Mikey/Spencer is a go. We both love the idea too much not to write it. *g*

Date: 2009-06-15 11:45 am (UTC)Glad to hear you enjoyed the first episodes of Dollhouse. It actually got better and better with each new episode so, you're in for a ride.
I saw that you posted the fic, yes, brilliant! It's been tabbed and it's just waiting for me to read it :-)

Date: 2009-06-15 12:04 pm (UTC)Dollhouse was so cool. James missed the beginning so he wasn't impressed yesterday, mainly because he had no idea what was going on. But he enjoyed the two we saw today.
Man, there's fic everywhere! I'm sure everyone has a million and one tabs. I love this time of year.

Date: 2009-06-15 04:04 pm (UTC)I hope your cough is beginning to get better. It sucks that it's lingering like this, though pretty typical of summer colds in my experience :-/
You know I'm not going to read your story but it still makes me very happy to hear that it's finished and that it's been fun to write. (Though that's already been pretty clear from the way you've both been talking about it during this time.) Good luck with the next project!

Date: 2009-06-15 04:37 pm (UTC)It is getting a little better, which is good as I was about on a bottle a day habit of cough medicine.
Dude! You're going to give me a complex saying that you won't read my stuff! First my shelter fic and now this. WOE!
We did have a blast though. I'd do it again in an instant.
