There's nothing like a cool shower at the end of a hot day. There was a very impressive thunderstorm earlier, which I enjoyed once I'd rescued my clothes from the line.

It was Corey's open evening on Thursday and he got a great report, but what I was most proud of, was that along with the awards and good grades, was his form teacher calling him a gentleman. Because if he can get through life treating people right, well that's an awesome thing. Also nice to remember for the times when I walk in the kitchen and find that after making himself something to eat he's left out the trays, the bowls, empty packets and every plate he's used.

I was very happy at the Big Brother eviction on Friday night, and the interview after where Davina called Sree on some of the horrible things he did. It made up for seeing Brian dancing in a mankini on Big Mouth. I'm still traumatised days later.

Our Sky is off at the moment, but should be back on by tomorrow -- and it better be as it's the Britain's Next Top Model finale. Also, Supersizers and the new Torchwood and Hotel Inspector -- and yes, I know I watch a lot of lame TV, but I like it, so shush.

Other than that I've been doing very little except for reading a lot, because my life is just that exciting.

Icon twins!

My house is still a mess because all I have been doing is reading fic and napping. It is tragic. I'm going to be horrified when the contractor comes on Tuesday (and so is he). But sometimes, you just want to enjoy a 3 day weekend, you know?

Lame TV is the best. I'm watching Live Free or Die Hard for the hundredth time.

Go Cory. Being called a gentleman in this day and age is an awesome thing.

Best icon ever!

I think you deserved your three day weekend, and if that meant napping and reading fic, so be it. The contractor can deal.

Lame tv is awesome, which is good because I've found when you don't have your satellite channels your choice is pretty limited to lame tv. I woke up last night and James was watching something about pan pipes. It was very disorientating.

She was very pleased with him, and the gentleman comment was such a highlight.

Have you read the Dollhouse BBB story? I'm on part one and suspect it's going to get really spoilery because I'm only about 5 episodes in on the show.

I would whine about my ankle and leg still hurting (you should see my leg- vivid bruises are materializing all along my shin and knee), but that's just an excuse for my laziness.

I skipped the Dollhouse BBB. I wasn't sure if I wanted to merge those two fandoms in my mind. There are a lot of reveals in the later Dollhouse episodes, so there is a lot to spoil...

Maybe a little laziness but I think if you're getting bruises now from Wednesday it's also a valid excuse.

Yeah, I figured. I read part one and it's a retell of the episodes I've seen so I'm very wary about going on. I may give it a miss and go back when I've seen the whole season.

Yeah, I can't believe the bruises I am getting from tripping on air and falling down. It's insane.

I agree, it's probably best to go back later. A lot of things happen in the later episodes that you probably don't want to be spoiled for. I know I liked have the surprise there.

Sounds like you're bringing him up right. Good for you! :-)

Oh god, I so agree on the Sree thing. I especially hate how he totally crowded and stalked Noirin from the minute they met. She comes across to me as a totally typical Irish girl, really friendly and interested in people, and he totally read that as sexual interest. What a creepy slimeball!

And oh Brian, Brian, Brian. What a total yoghurt pot ::sighs::

He's a typical teenager but also a good kid. They balance each other out nicely.

I could rant for pages about Sree. It astounded me that they kept putting Freddie up for nomination while Sree was being so obnoxious, I was thrilled when I could actually vote for him.

His thing for Noirin was creepy and out of order and when he made that crack about Freddie's dyslexia I wanted to jump through the screen and shake him. And yet it's obvious he still doesn't think he's done anything wrong. Every question he's asked he interprets in his own way, and his ego. Oh my god. Shut up!

I seriously dislike him a lot and knowing so many other people thought the same way made my Friday.

I really liked Brian last season, but I have to admit, I feel uncomfortable with what they've got him doing on Big Mouth. I'm sure he's told what to expect but with the mankini this week and parading around on a leash the other week, I feel embarrassed for him.

The heat has finally broken here. Today it's been "only" 20C!

That's so sweet and certainly shows that you've brought him up right! It sucks that he's the usual messy teenager at home, though I guess it would be worse if he was a perfect saint at home and a demon with others, right?

Reading is A Good Thing! Have you read The Uncharted Sea yet??!

20C sounds amazing. Though I think the heat here is due to break soon, too. I hope so.

It was a lovely compliment and yeah, him being a demon with others wouldn't be cool at all. He's not bad at all really, he'll do the stuff that he's told, it just never crosses his mind that dirty dishes go in the sink, rubbish in the bin etc.

I have! OMG! I loved it so much. It's seriously one of the best stories that I've read for a long time. So much so I emailed various people half way through and pretty much said, read this now!

The world building was perfection.

IT WAS SO GOOD!!! I did pretty much the same thing in my LJ I think. Just thinking about it makes me want to flail because it's so fantastic. Especially, as you say, the world building. The way it works together with the plot it's just amazing.

You've reminded me that I really must rec on my journal. I did in email and on the Mikey comm but not on here, and I really need to.

The world building was breathtaking, as was the seamless way she crafted the various stories and merged them together before splitting them again. I pretty much spent the last parts with my heart in my mouth, and aching because Mikey and Gerard were apart. And the ship building. Wow. I don't have the words. It's a scene that I'll remember for a long time.

And Jon, when he was pushing the ship. And the metal men. I could go on and on.

It's easily in the upper 80s today, and we have no air conditioning--a shower was complete bliss. And good on you that he can be a gentleman! (Though I think the whole leaving everything ever out is just an absentmindness thing, as my brother does it constantly and he is the most oblivious person ever.)

I honestly don't know how people live in those constant high temperatures, especially with no air conditioning. We've got fans going in the bedrooms and living room and still swelter.

I think you're right, it is absentmindedness as he'll go and put stuff away when told. It just doesn't cross his mind to do it himself.

Me too! It seems like it's been forever since it was on. I'm really interested to see how they deal with such a cut down team.

Good marks are great, but they only have a limited lifespan, whereas being a good person is going to stand Corey in great stead for his entire life. And he really is such a great kid, so I'm glad his teacher is aware of that. I genuinely enjoyed spending time with him when I was there :)

The reasons for leaving trays, bowls, plates etc in the kitchen:

- when you made yourself a meal, you sooo hungry, at least from the last 5 minutes, and all you think about is eating, not cleaning.
- when you end eating, you're full and content. No energy at all, for cleaning.
- when your stomach ease a little, you suddenly remind yourself about something on TV/Internet/outside, scratch the unnecessary, so you leave the kitchen in haste.
- the same reasons works for said plates, glasses etc pilling up in your room.

xDD
