Oct. 22nd, 2009 05:08 pmHappy birthday
luxshine! Also, a very happy belated birthday to
solariana. I hope you both had/are having fantastic days. Much love for you both ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
My big announcement today is I can twitch a spot under my bottom lip,.we're talking millimetres here, but man, I'm taking it. And for my next trick I'll be attempting a twitch of a nostril, not yet though, there needs to be a big build up to these things.
Also, mam was off getting tests for suspected throat cancer today, but it seems all is well.
James went to see the doc today and is running a little bit of a temperature so needs to chill and rest up, but otherwise is fine.
So, yeah. I'm taking today as a plus.
ETA: Our grocery order was just delivered and somehow I managed to double up on the potatoes. I guess we'll be eating jacket potatoes for a while.

p.s. I'm looking at the sign-ups for MtYG and something is missing. I can't figure out what it might be. Hmm...

Date: 2009-10-22 05:06 pm (UTC)That sounds hopeful about your mam. *keeps fingers crossed*
Yes, lots of rest for James and no running around! *tries to look stern*
Or you could make potato soup. My basic potato soup recipe is very simple: Peel and cube the potatoes and boil them in vegetable or chicken stock until they're soft. Add milk (or cream) and a finely sliced leek and simmer until the leek is soft. Season with dried basil to taste. For variety you can add bacon or sausages.

Mashed potatoes
Potato bread (yum, no, really)
Potato pancakes/latke (ditto)
Hash browns
Potato salad
Scalloped potatoes, mmmmmm...
All yum! If a bit more labor-intensive than jacket potatoes.

Date: 2009-10-23 01:24 pm (UTC)Turlough left me a recipe for potato soup and I may give that a try, because 4 bags of potatoes will spoil before we can eat them.
I'm glad you put the yum after the potato bread. I've never heard of it before.

Date: 2009-10-23 01:54 pm (UTC)I wish he would rest up. Though he's had no choice today as both our dad's turned up one after another. We've been hosting all afternoon.

Date: 2009-10-23 02:34 pm (UTC)It does sound hopeful, which is such a relief, and James has had to rest today. Simply because first my dad turned up and then the FiL. It's been a busy afternoon.
Oh, that's a good recipe and I have everything needed for it. I'm going to give it a try otherwise I know I'll end up with bags full of bad potatoes.
Thank you!
