Corey's school was off again today. We got up at the usual time, checked the website, and then crawled back into bed for three more glorious hours. Of course him being off meant more X Box live time which kills my connection...sigh.
The school sent an email too. Sent time 6:50. The time I got it? Nearly 5 in the afternoon.
I've seen this a few places now and it's still cool. Picture of GB under snow.
popoffacork authors are revealed very soon, so, just for fun, anyone have an idea about what I wrote?
themoononastick has already guessed because apparently she's magic like that.
To end.
Genderswap: It's not something I really seek out. Most always-a-girl stories leave me wondering why the writer didn't just use one of the many kick-ass women in fandom. I do like gender swap when it happens for a reason, the writer wants to explore something, from characters finding out about differing attitudes to genders in the industry to Mikey feeling down so has hot sex with Alicia, but so often the stories are nothing but the exact same characters with added boobs or dick. At which point I just think, why?!
Bodyswap: I enjoy it. Both the humorous kind to more serious stories where someone spends a day in someone else's shoes. Mostly though, I go for the humour. I like stories that make me laugh.
Drunk!fic:I have no problems with it, and have written it a few things. A lot of drunk!fic in mcr tends toward the serious side. Gerard really wasted and how that affects the others. I'll happily read that, the same way I'll read someone tipsy and having fun.
Huddling together for warmth: Dude! Show me a popslasher that hasn't written or read that trope and I'll show you someone falling down on the job! Don't you know when Nysnc and BSB started up they toured in Germany for *ages* and it was always *cold* and they huddled together on tiny beds with scratchy sheets and had sex. Sometimes with Justin's mom! Which is, bring it on!
Undercover in a gay bar: The Sentinel is full of those kinds of stories and I enjoyed them. They're not so common in the rps fandoms, which is a shame because there should be a sprawling bandom cop AU complete with missions and uncover shenanigans! And Mikey and Ryan could gossip over the water cooler in the corner, leaning against the table with their tiny cones of water, saying nothing but taking everything in togossip about discuss later. And then there would be an undercover mission at the gay bar and people would be worried and they'd decide to send in the twinkiest of them all, which of course would be Mikey and Ryan, maybe Brendon and there would be a scene of fitting wires, with lots of groping and stern words not to get in any trouble! But of course they do and the people outside in the van, have to listen as everything goes to hell and they realise the gay club is the centre of a huge drugs ring and the big boss is there and suddenly there's gunfire and everyone is scrambling out of the van, yelling and all panicked and it would be awesome!
Pretending to be married: Works for me. Though it always reminds me of that X Files ep.
Secretly a virgin: While the secret keeping isn't anything I get excited over, the actual taking of the virginity scene? Oh yes.
Amnesia: Nothing I'd go looking for. But you know what would be good? One of the Ways having amnesia. That would be awful and tragic and would make me so sad. If it were Gerard, and Mikey's spent his whole life looking up to his big brother and now he doesn't even know him. WOE!
Cross-dressing: Let me tell you a story about cross-dressing. Back when I was but a baby!fangirl I read a crossdressing The Sentinel story, one where Jim got dressed in a fluffy jumper and got off on feeling the fabric. I was so traumatised you don't even know. Jim Ellison didn't wear women's clothes! Just the thought made me recoil. That attitude stuck with me through popslash where the thought of Chris in pink panties still makes me want to cry. Then I came into bandom.... I found writers who made it work, Frank wanting to fuck up Mikey's lipstick, Gerard in a dress, Brendon having a thing for panties, and I liked it. Not always, I have to trust an author before I'll read cross dressing and it also has to be certain people. Bob in a dress? Hell no. But others, yeah. I blame Mikey. Totally.
Forced to share a bed: Haven't I already mentioned Germany and the cold and the narrow beds with scratchy sheets!? They had to share a bed or freeze to death! My pop boys sparkle with joy not ice!
Aliens made them do it: Well they sort of do in the a certain universe I have with aliens running space brothels \o/ There needs to be more aliens! Aliens that make people have sex. There is a sad lack right now!
Wingfic: I like wing fic but it's nothing I'd ever purposely search out.
Mpreg: Any Mpreg pales in comparison to Rhyss' Mpreg. Simple as.
Mistakenly assumed to be gay: That's not really an issue in either bandom or popslash. There's more a chance of mistakenly assumed to be straight.
Let's play truth or dare: A classic, one where many truths have been revealed. In the right hands it can be awesome. In the wrong hands horribly mottsy.
Mary Sue fic: No way. I don't need stories of Mistie, Christie, Sparkle, Ebony and Flo being the support act for Nsync, and....gasp! falling in love with them!
Aphrodisiacs: It can be smokin' hot! But I do like to know there was an actual attraction there and nothing forced between people who're supposed to be friends.
Curtain fic: Love it. Domestic scenes of cooking, cleaning, shopping. They make me happy.
Hurt/Comfort: I hate it.
....
Did you believe me? Did you?! Love it! It's my favourite always. If I had to pick any kind of trope ever it would be h/c. There needs to be more, much more! Crashes, adventures, illnesses, bumps, bruises, sickness, blood, pain, angst, woe. Bring it on! Comfort too of course, with hugs and reassurances things will be okay.
Apocalypse fic: Yes! I love all of that stuff.
Someone has a baby: I don't mind it, but it's way down on what I want to read.
Baby!fic: Wee!Bob! *loves* I do enjoy other baby!fic too, it can be fun.
Telepathic soulbonding: Like a wolf jumping into the panther kind of thing? I could go for that.
Werewolves mate for life: So do lobsters \o/
But what I want to know is, where is the fuck or die trope? I like that one.
