I really feel for Pete today. I've been looking at some of the tweets that are being sent his way and some of them are really horrible. I can't even imagine how much it must hurt to be faced with so much hate, especially when he's so obviously down as it is.

In happier news. I really want this Frank/Mikey idea as suggested by [livejournal.com profile] tempore to become a fully formed story.

Following a google alert I came across this article about Mikey. While the whole thing amused me it was this part that caught my attention Michael James Way grew up with his five siblings and always had a very close relationship with his eldest brother Gerard Way So tell me, where are those other four siblings? Are they still lurking in the basement? Are Donna Way's creepy dolls actually bewitched Way children? Inquiring minds need to know!

Watched another Biggest Loser ep this morning and man, there's a woman on there I can't stand. Just seeing her makes me angry and then even though everyone hates her they didn't vote her off when they had the chance. I had fists of fury.

I've just wrestled a king sized bed into Corey's room -- his feet were hanging off his old bed -- and have to go grocery shopping as soon as James gets in from work. There's not enough DNW in the world.

I don't understand why they're aiming everything to him. It's a bit disrespectful to the other boys in the band, it's like saying they've got no mind of their own and they're all puppets played by Pete. Wah.

It is instances like these that I really wish people would stop for a second before hitting post. I get that some people are really upset but the implications and want/need to share their emotional pain but they don't need to share it with Pete Wentz who seems to be feeling sad enough as it is. That clichéd saying pain shared is pain halved might be true but share it with other fans. Just skimming through there is so much there that would never be something any, polite & rational, person would say to Wentz or anyone else yet because it's all impersonal e-interaction it's considered fine.

The entitlement that comes off in a lot of those responses really irritates me which is pretty irrational I know. While these fans might be upset their favourite band is finished, it's still just a band whereas for the members it's a huge part of their lives. The underlying implication that Joe, Patrick, and Andy aren't really full members of FOB but only members through Pete's generosity is also unpleasant because it denigrates their individual abilities while at the same time putting Pete in a place where they aren't his equal friends but his subordinates riding his coattails to fame even though it was the collective band that brought them to fame. Pete, through his actions and circumstances beyond his control, ended up as the "famous one" but what some fans seem to be forgetting is that fame does not actually provide talent and it was the collective talent-ability of FOB that helped him reach the level of fame he has now. I'm going to be disappointed if they break up but objectively until there is a formal announcement there really isn't any reason to getting upset. Quite frankly, from what Frank has said, it sounds like MCR went through a similar period of "will we or won't we" but they kept it under wraps whereas Pete threw it into the public.

That whole article was amusing. The lost Way siblings *laughs*
[Creepy idea alert] Mama Way was a witch who wanted sons. Her first four children were all daughters who she turned into dolls rather than let them grow up with the potential to usurp her power. Boys can't use a witch's power but can pass it down to their own children. Gerard and Mikey only knew there was something unsettling about those doll and it wasn't until years later when Mikey unknowingly married a witch that they found out exactly what the dolls were [/creepy idea]

We could call the story "Ooze Into You" :D

But anyway, yes. The FOB is sad making, mostly because those insensitive people will never understand what it's like to have something like that fade. For all that they want the music and the happy boys together, they have no idea how it feels to be that close to people-- and even if the closeness stays, it's still never going to be the same. To lose both the muse and the collective consciousness that is a band, hurts. It doesn't matter if things are for the best, and it's even better later, it's like mourning the loss of a loved one. It doesn't matter if you believe they're in a better place, it still fucking hurts to lose them.

I agree with you totally.

I have this whole rant inside of me about entitlement issues of certain fans and how they need to remember that FOB isn't just a name/music/whatever, it's four men with very real emotions and feelings.

Pete may be the spokesman of the band but he's no evil puppet master and like you said, to suggest he is does a disservice to all of the others.

I hate that people do that. Pete is a real person with real feelings and they need to stop a second and think before clicking post.

I started to quote something from your second paragraph but couldn't, simply because I agree with every word you say. I don't think it's irrational you being irritated. I had to step away from twitter after seeing so many tweets directly blaming Pete, especially when he seemed so upset.

I wish every one of those so-called fans could read what you said and think before they start spewing out blame and hate.

That is a very creepy idea, and fits in perfectly with Mama Way. Now I'm thinking of those creepy Way sister dolls and shivering!

I'm hoping that Pete just hit a bad dip last night and did his usual thing of sharing what he was feeling with the internet. Which isn't the smartest thing for sure but the man is human and he has to be in a weird head space right now.

Mama Way would make a wonderful witch. Though I feel bad for the Way sisters now!

It went as well as could be expected. The cupboards and fridge are full again and Corey's birthday gift was picked up so that was good. I just wish the stuff would magically get from the car and unpack itself.

Yeah, rather than taking tantrums and throwing blame. It's funny, Pete was taunting the folks slinging mud at him, and I can't help but wonder if it was a form of self-flagellation. The Biggest Loser is a weight loss show. A lot of people disagree with the format because they take hugely overweight people and get them to lose weight fast through a carefully controlled diet and an insane amount of exercise. I'm talking hours worth a day at a very high intensity.

Each week two people -- or sometimes 2 teams of two -- who have lost the least percentage of body weight are at risk of being sent home by the other contestants. Which is always the part that makes me well up. The season I'm watching on Sky right now is a couples season with father/son, mother/daughter, best friends etc. So seeing one of them go is heart breaking.

I find it inspiring. Like there's a girl on there now who weighed in over 450 pounds. She couldn't even climb a few steps at first but now she's dropping double figures weight wise each week. Which I know isn't realistic is real life, but seeing all the transformations is amazing.

Corey is over 6 foot in his bare feet. He's taller than James and towers over me. He has ginormous shoes too. When I see my shoes next to his it's the only time I feel small.

The shopping went okay. I stocked up on good stuff and resisted the chocolate and cookies when James and Corey bought themselves some. Then they called in the chip shop for tea and I said I'd go to subway, and it was shut!

I think one of the biggest drawbacks of twitter is the way it gives the more unthinking and, most often, entitled "fans" a false sense of, idk, intimacy with band members, etc. In that they seem to have this idea that because they can directly communicate with people like Pete via twitter, that means they can say whatever mean, hurtful thing they feel like saying without actually considering what they're saying or the effect it might have on the person they're saying it to.

It's like the paparazzi argument: famous people put themselves in the public eye on purpose therefore they shouldn't complain about having their photo taken. Which, obviously, is bullshit because making a career out of acting or music or whatever does not equal signing up for having your private life effectively taken away from you to the point where a person can't even take their kid for a day in the park without being followed and photographed at every turn. In the same vein signing up for twitter isn't the same as signing up to be the punching bag of a bunch of mean-spirited fanbrats who seem to think they're entitled to kick someone when they're obviously down just because they can.

In short: Pete needs hugs.

Also? I am much amused and intrigued by these mystery Way siblings. The Way's basement must be huge!

(I have no appropriately annoyed looking Pete icon, so judgemental Patrick will have to do)

It's not really even realistic on the show. Sometimes their "week" is not 7 days. Also, they're doing incredibly dangerous things--intense workouts in overheated gyms for hours without drinking any water at all, for example. There was a really interesting (and kind of scary) article about it in US or Star or one of those magazines last month. And Jillian Michaels was quoted in it agreeing that it was unrealistic and dangerous, but then, if I recall correctly (it was last month after all ;) she also put most of the blame on the contestants, saying that they'll play the game to win. I don't know if damaging their health, possibly irreparably is actually winning much.

Pete is a real person with real feelings Yes. The impersonal nature of e-communication makes it easy for people to forget this while at the same time the faux personal feeling generated by the way Pete uses the internet had led some people to feeling as though he's personally betrayed them. Um, I'm going to stop rambling all over your comments and go think about creepy Way sister dolls now. Only their eyes move and only if you catch them at just the right moment.

When he is little, the summer just before first grade, Gerard spends a whole afternoon standing very still in front of Mama's doll collection. He watches how the sunlight makes the porcelin faces gleam and their hair sparkle. Their eyes stare straight ahead fringed in delicately painted black lashes. He knows they're watching him. He stands very still, barely breathing, and then he sees it. The doll at the end of the row, the one with the same straight dark hair and thin lipped smile as Mikey, looks at him. He sees her green eyes slowly roll until her cold gaze pins him to the floor like a bug in the display cases at the museum.

Panic first, FOB now... no band is safe! Not that they should stay together till the bitter end, of course. I still hope MCR will go on for a long time as they are now. And at least, I got to see FOB live once *g*

So those contestants get in the show hoping they'll lose weight but also knowing they might not go far at all? What about when they're evicted, then? Is someone still following them? I mean, if they lost some weight, are they keeping with the diet and stuff or does it mean they'll gain everything they lost as soon as they get out? And is it safe for them to lose so much weight so quickly, btw?

MCR better go on for a long time!

There's a lot of controversy about the show and at the heart of the matter is the fact that it is a game show, and that means the people making it want the most extreme changes possible.

I've been reading up about things and the contestants do get to keep getting advice from their trainers when they go home, but honestly, I doubt that helps much when they've made the effort to get on the show, work hard and are then sent home within a week.

Like the episode I watched yesterday. A woman got the chance to go back after being voted out early. She'd done really well on her own at home, came back to the show and put on five pounds in a week, so of course was voted straight back out.

On the show they're closely medically supervised, so I'd say it's as safe as it could be there. It's after I wonder about. I know a lot of contestants have put weight back on and that's because being on the Biggest Loser is as far away from reality as you can get.

It's all pluses and minuses I guess, and some people are so desperate they'll try anything.

How people can't see there's a difference between someone turning up at a red carpet event and someone just living their lives I don't know. Pete does so many events where he knows he'll get snapped, hell, he shares so many pictures of himself and his family. There's no need to follow him when he's taking Bronx for a walk.

I was reading about the show a few weeks ago and some of the things the contestants do to win are scary. Like one winner of one of the early seasons who dehydrated himself to such an extent he was peeing blood the week before the final weigh in. Knowing things like that is scary.

Even scarier is the fact that they seem to be getting even more extreme as each new season arrives. With bigger people needing bigger numbers. I do like the show, but have to admit it's got some big problems.
