This is awesome. It's so incredibly creepy and sad. The tone reminds me a little bit of an old school fairy tale. I really like how it's never explained where Gerard went and if it was voluntary or not. The story itself could be read either way which is so neat. Like Gerard left and knew he was leaving for so long that he left Mikey the Gees but maybe he didn't realize for how long or that he had to go so soon when GeeTwo and GeeOne couldn't function completely. The image of Mikey curling up with his broken Gee was so sad. The Gees themselves are also hurty because they're trying to care for Mikey and yet at the same time it's their care that is slowly chipping away his memories of his real brother. I really like how the apple imagery comes up throughout this and how the end is so opened to interpretation. Is it really Gerard or is it Mikey hallucinating as he fails or something else... Mikey's grief over his brother's disappearance is beautifully done. In short I think it's really neat how depending on interpretation this story can be very sweet and warm or incredibly creepy and dark.
