Happy belated birthday
quatre_k. I hope it was fantastic for you ♥
It's been a busy week. Corey turned 14 on Thursday so we went out for dinner to celebrate. We hit the local carvery, roast turkey with loads of veggies and mustard gravy, nom nom nom. We also went and visited our niece who'd fallen while ice skating and broke her wrist. Which, as James had to drive her to the hospital, is why I was putting up birthday banners after midnight on Wednesday night.
James has been organising his first scout camp for this weekend so yesterday trays full of pies needed to be picked up and pans of mushy peas made and then a chocolate birthday cake for Corey picked up as well as seeing nanna. She'd turned 90 but as she's having her adults only dinner and get together today we went to see her last night. She's adorable, I love nanna so much, tactless comments and all. Happy birthday, Nanna Rosie, thank goodness you'll never read this greeting in person.
Once James and Corey were packed off to camp I got in my pjs and had a lovely evening with just me and the four foots. I'd intended to watch Leverage and then tackle my in-box because right now it's shameful with half-finished emails everywhere. What actually happened was I watched Leverage and then somehow I found myself Googling Leverage fic. I don't know how it happened, it just did! And I ended up at the Pit of Voles reading through a list of stories where Eliot ended up with pneumonia, and got shot and got beaten and all sorts of awesome things and I had stars in my eyes! But, while reading through those stories I suddenly got the urge to see if any new Greg centric CSI stories had been posted, so I tabbed to the CSI section, and found myself reading this muli-chaptered insane fic where Greg was in an abusive relationship and of course Nick saved him and there were tears and catatonic states and Greg being carried. I couldn't click each new chapter fast enough. Then when I finished that I read another Leverage story, then went back to CSI and found another insane Greg abuse story \o/
By the time I'd finished that it was well after midnight so I went to bed and slept for a solid eleven hours. Got up, had cereal for dinner and have spent the the last few hours catching up on LJ -- skip 650, ouch.
Badfic aside, I have a Leverage dilema. I'm really liking the show but am only on episode 4 of season one. I much prefer watching on TV but knowing all those other episodes are there to be downloaded is killing me. If I download season 2 will there be problems with missing info for arcs? Also, does anyone have any recs for good Leverage fic? While I'm asking for fic, does anyone know of any NCIS LA stories that are Eric centric?
My favourite meme ever is going around, the one where you have a list of characters and people give scenarios that you then explain using your characters. But man, I'm so behind on everything that I shouldn't even think about doing it. Just, favourite meme ever! There's also this.

fleurdeliserI officially declare this to be International Weekend of Friending The People You've Been Too Shy To Friend
Many times I've wondered about friending someone but didn't because what if they thought I was lame or stupid and didn't want me reading? This is the weekend to change that. Also, if by the very remote chance someone has been reading my journal and been afraid to friend me, go for it. I like to think I'm friendly, I like reading people's posts, I like getting to know people, I promise, I don't always talk/write about people being shot and being sick and traumatised 1.
Okay, emails now, maybe some writing before my boys come back covered in mud and starving.
1 Okay, so that may be a lie, but at least I put them back together again in the end -- mostly.

Date: 2010-02-13 04:37 pm (UTC)I do have the links. I'd like to read a well written abuse story, something that takes the time to deal with the emotional fallout and the abused reclaiming their lives, but that would be a huge story and take very careful writing. Sadly I haven't found that yet.
The stories were Live and Love (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=3958) and Learn to Trust (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=1089)

Date: 2010-02-13 05:27 pm (UTC)Yuletide had some Leverage fic. You might try there for stories too.
I'm still waiting for the awesome CSI Nick/Greg story too.

Date: 2010-02-13 05:37 pm (UTC)Oh, I never thought of Yuletide. I will check there.
Awesome Nick/Greg is so scarce. I do like reading those insane stories at the pit of voles but I want the good stuff too, and it's just not out there.
The most scarring thing I read last night? Bad bdsm with Greg as sub and Nick and Grissom sharing as dom. Damn those summaries that tempt me in with double penetration! Which may I say didn't even happen. Damn fic teases.

Date: 2010-02-13 05:32 pm (UTC)Leverage is most yummy - and there's some good fic being written too. I think my favorite series is
I'm torn about this friending weekend thing. Mostly because I feel like I have to have a proper intro post done before running around and friending people. Which... is prolly not necessary. But that's my brain - I want people to have fair warning.

Date: 2010-02-13 05:41 pm (UTC)Thanks so much for the links, I've got those tabbed and am eager to read some good stuff.
Friending people can still be so difficult. It shouldn't be and yet somehow still is. I often wonder about having an intro post, mainly because I have a horrible habit of thinking that everyone knows what I do and I just babble on about stuff that could leave newbies thinking, the hell? That or scare them away.
Anyway. Facts are you are awesome and anyone should be pleased to be friended by you.

Date: 2010-02-13 05:40 pm (UTC)You terrible slacker! You just cant resist the badfic ;-D
I can't help you about Leverage I'm afraid, the nearest I've ever come that fandom is that MCR fusion that was posted some time ago, So Get Your Gun and Meet Me By The Door.
Good luck with catching up on everything!

Date: 2010-02-13 05:46 pm (UTC)It feels like he was just 11 yesterday, until he gets in to his know it all teenager moods *g*
Nanna really is fabulous. We went up yesterday and she'd opened all her cards already and was sitting talking about all the loot she had to open and how she suspected the people at her Friday club had organised a surprise party for her and how she'd have to pretend to be surprised.
I was a shameful slacker last night. I wouldn't care but I didn't set out to read fic all night /o\
Yay, thanks for the link!

HAND OVER THE H/C BADFIC, PLEASE. Links? I'm a sucker for Eliot torture, especially if Nate helps put him back together. :cough:

I've only starved people in stories once or twice....
Okay, so I've just sat and thought of recent stories, you may have a point *g*

Date: 2010-02-13 10:42 pm (UTC)What you said makes sense. I am tempted to watch out of order but I'll be sensible and download the first season so I can see the characters develop the way they're supposed to. There's been some nice recs up thread. I've a load of tabs open.
The meme is my favourite! If I actually get my emails sent I may still do it soon because I love laughing at the results. I'm going to yours now :D
