I was all set to come rant about my ISP and how it's made of fail -- and then read the news about Bob on Twitter. Now I'm just sitting here stunned.

Damn rpf fandoms. Why are they so hard?

ETA: While they are hard I still love my rpf fandoms. I still love MCR and am looking forward to new music and promo, even though it won't be the same without Bob.

No regrets that you were lured away, not on my part anyway. You're a huge part of the fandom for me and as selfish as it is when you're hurting, I can't regret that you were lured.

I really hope that it's a medical issue that's forced him to take this step. That after the break he got back to drumming regularly and knew it wouldn't be good for his wrists. I can't believe that it's anything conflict based. Just the thought of that is sickening.

This is the first tweet I saw. Damn, but what's happening to all our bands? So after Panic, MCR is another band I won't ever be lucky enough to see "whole".

I was hoping so hard that the rumour wasn't true. It seemed so unlikely, especially as they seemed so together and thankful for him.

Oh Terri, I'm feeling so torn! On the one hand I'm feeling totally devastated. MY BAND!! MY FAVOURITE PAIRING!! I'm totally sitting here crying right now. But on the other hand it's Gerard who's my OTC in this fandom, everyone else is frankly secondary. I still love the fandom and I dont' want to go anywhere else and I want everyone else to stay here with me. I feel ashamed at how much of my devastation is because I'm worrying what will happen to the fandom. How many on my flist will still be there in a week? Will they give up on My Chem now? I don't want to lose people! I'm feeling so incoherent right now.

That's totally understandable and a very human way to react, imo. You can have sympathy for people while also being grateful that Gerard is still in the band.

It's also understandable to worry about the fandom. Some people may stop writing or move on and that will hurt. How can it not? Fandom is our place, it's what we *do* and changes like this are never easy.

Waking up to this today was...hard. Every major band I like has gone through critical blows during the last year. First Panic, then A7X lost the Rev, then FOB, and now MCR losing Bob? I understand, shit happens, things get in the way, people part...but damn.

My otp just got ripped apart :'[ I'll look forward to MCR continuing on, but much like you said, it just won't be the same without Bob.

It's been a hard year for bandom. You're right, you can rationalise everything but in the end it only helps so much.

No doubt I'll enjoy what they do in the future, but it can't be the same.

I'm kind of feeling Panic divorce levels of sadness about this. Bob was the main reason I had any interest left in MCR as a band and now...idk. I mean, I enjoy Mikey on many levels but most of them are entirely based in fandom as opposed to on a band level, which, yeah, I know probably doesn't make a lot of sense but it does in my head *hands*, but for me Bob was the band and without him I just don't really care any more. :(

No, it does make sense. There's people in bandom that I love a lot but more for their fannish personas than anything else. For example, bouncy hyperactive Brendon, who's sort of like the 'real' Brendon squared.

It's a hard thing, obviously Mikey is my favourite so my love for the band remains, but I've seen so many of my friends hurt badly by this, and I hate that.
