The day that

squashbee picked my summary was a very lucky one for me, because she's produced art that I adore.

She's worked so hard, and given me multiple sketches, ones that capture elements and characters in my story perfectly. Seriously, I'm in awe at how perfectly they do match, it's like she looked in my head and sketched what I was seeing when I was writing.

I can never thank her enough. So please, even if the story isn't one that you want to read, check out the artwork. You won't regret it, I can promise you that.

First up, she sent me dividers for my story. Dividers That's something I never expected, and each time I look at them I grin.

Then there were scenes from the actual story.

When I saw this I gasped. It's a different style to the other sketches I was sent, and I love that it is. You can't see Ryan's face here, but what you can see is how he's being dwarfed by his surroundings, how he's running into the alley to escape and how at this point his whole world is one of shadows. It's also a world Ryan knows well, he's existing in a bad situation, but he's surviving, he knows where to run and how.

Each time I look at this my heart breaks for them. Frank is so sick here, and Mikey's so tired and lost, knowing there's not a thing he can actually do to actually help. His expression as he stares at Frank, never wanting to look away, and I love how his wrists are crossed for some reason. Then there's Frank, hooked up to so many monitors and looking so small, weak and still in the bed.

All the detail is amazing, and I love it.

It's taking me forever to actually say something about this one. This is such an important scene, and if you know me you'll know my love for the Way brothers is huge. So to have this sketch, where Gerard and Mikey are finally reunited. I can't say anything more than, it's perfect. Gerard's expression, how he's holding onto Mikey like he's never going to let go. How Mikey's finally able to relax a little, knowing that Gerard's love for him is unconditional. I love all the sketches, but this one is my favourite. ♥ always.

This scene is toward the end of the story, and just, look at them. The strips of skin where their t-shirts have ridden up, and Mikey looks so taken-aback as Pete hands over the cat ears. What I love most about this is the colour, Mikey's wearing something bright, his red hoodie standing out as he's given a gift from someone who's become a friend. It's also a sign that things are getting better for Mikey, he's left the dark times and can finally take a step from the shadows. Then there's Pete, who's not one of the main characters in the story but he is an important one, and I was thrilled he got his own moment to shine.

Now some extras. These next two sketches are the first two I was sent. They were meant as a character sketches for

squashbee, therefore the notes, but I loved them so much that I asked if I could share them, so she fixed them up for public viewing and said yes. Which was horribly forward of me, but I just want everyone to see how talented she is.

Look at Ryan, just look at him. With his wary expression and outfit that he uses when he's on the streets. His eye make-up and hair, the fact you can see his belly button.

And then Mikey, as the label says, before things turn to shit. He looks so relaxed here, as opposed to later, and look at his hands, how he's doing the Mikey thing of gripping his own wrist.

They're the Mikey and Ryan from my story, right there on the screen, and that is amazing.

These are all SO amazing. You must be THRILLED.

The Way bros hugging is so heartwarming and Mikey in his ears! This is going to sound ridiculous but the back of Pete in that one just looks so... Pete-like to me. Love it.
