It was the reveals for
bandom_holidays so I can reveal that I wrote Drink Cider From a Lemon, which was guessed by quite a few people. Not that I was surprised at that.
When I first got my assignment I was overjoyed. Daniomalley22's prompts were everything I love, but then the more I looked the more I realised I'd pretty much written something that matched every prompt. After fretting a while I sent a frantic email to
themoononastick that unless she talked me down I was going to write something about an evil Santa enslaving elf bandom people. Thankfully she said all the soothing words and reminded me that it was okay to write something even if I had written similar before, which is how Drink Cider From a Lemon came about, a Ray and Ryan focussed story set around a shelter for those who need a safe place to stay. I'm still a little /o\ that it's so long, and that was with me deliberately cutting it down as it's a story that wanted to be much longer. But, I like what I ended up with, so that's good.
Snowflake challenge also starts today, and I figured I'd give it a go.
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
The only problem is with this is I automatically go back to early works of mine because they seem to stand out more.
Tints of Rainbow Hue - I'm always surprised when I see how short this is, but it's the story that got a few people remembering my name in the fandom. It feels like I've said this multiple times, but I'm proud of this story and how many people were touched by it, and then shared their feelings with me after.
And the Embers Never Fade -- my Killjoys gsf where Bob is an outsider at first but then eventually becomes part of the killjoys, including sharing their bedding pile. I'll always remember writing this story, the comment conversations with
teigh_corvus about Bob and his pink Jeep and the crystal clear image I had in my head of the injured surly Kobra Kid being looked after by Bob the grumpy mechanic. I just love the whole world I created and one I'd like to revisit one day.
It Came From Within -- I've picked the first gross roomies story because I'm proud of the sex scenes it contains. I'd rather write multiple thousands of words of dialogue/action etc than sex, so the fact people keep mentioning how hot this story is delights me. Plus, it's Frank/Mikey roomie days, that's always going to be a favourite of mine.
Cooked and Slightly Cracked -- I picked this one because in popslash I was all about the crackfic. I wrote serious stuff too, but I loved the more crackish side of things. While I have written humour/crack in bandom, comparatively there's not as much, so I'm picking out this story about alien incestuous Waybros and their egglets. I love that people keep reading this, and really, alien, incestuous, Way bros mpreg. It's a beautiful thing.
