Despite the clocks going back this morning, which meant an extra hour in bed before the alarm went off, I've just had myself a cheeky nap. It's not something I do often but I was watching TV and was covered by my warm blanket, and the next thing I knew it was an hour later.
Talking of TV. I was pleased to see the actor who played Issac in Teen Wolf turn up in The Originals. I don't look for spoilers for the show so it was a nice surprise. I'm caught up on Haven and my feelings still haven't changed about the direction it's going. Watched the final ep of Project Runway this morning and approved of the decision. I have new Gotham, Criminal Minds, How to Get Away With Murder and Forever to watch on my DVR and The Flash and Modern Family start next week. I watched the first ep of scorpion and enjoyed it okay, American Horror Story, Freak Show, was okay, too and The Face US started again which made me happy as it means weeks of Naomi showing her crazy side. And of course, The Walking Dead which remains amazing, especially the first episode with that scene with Daryl. If you've watched I'm sure you know which one I mean.
I went to see The Maze Runner at the cinema and really enjoyed it. Though, as I didn't know going in it was part of a trilogy of books the ending caught me by surprise. I'm going to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sometime this week and am looking forward to it. James took his scouts to see it on Friday so he's been warned not to give spoilers.
Corey has been at Comic Con UK for the last few days. It was a last minute thing as one of his friends dropped out and he took their place in the group going down. Which is why we spent last weekend and the beginning of last week looking for stuff to make his costume. He went as a Ranger from Lord of the Rings and considering the time he had to get his costume made, looked pretty good. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the hotel they were staying in. They went down on a cheap coach tour, and I don't know if the person booking made a mistake or the hotel was changed, but they ended up in a hotel next to Gatwick while the con was at Heathrow, which was fine for the rest of the coach party as they were going into central London on the coach each day, but it's cost Corey and his friends over £30 a day in travel costs.
He'll be travelling back now, and no doubt will be tired and hungry when he gets home. Poor Milo has missed him terribly, he always sleeps with Corey so has been moping around the house and demanding attention, he's also been sleeping in our bed, which is fine, but as Freesia always sleeps on the bottom Milo has decided to sleep between the pillows, so for the last few nights I've woken to a face full of cat. Of course despite the moping as soon as Corey walks through the door Milo will turn his back on him and ignore him. That's just the cat way.
I also managed to embarrass Corey horribly when he went away. We'd arranged to meet him at the bus station with his case as he was going to stay at his friend's house straight from college. Of course I gave him a goodbye hug before he went, and he went so red you would have thought I'd burst into song and danced between the buses and not just gave him a squeeze in front of his friends. I'm a terrible mam, but like I told James, he's my bairn, it doesn't matter how big or old he is he's going to get a hug before going away.
The winds have been terrible this week and yet again we've lost another greenhouse. Looking out the window now and all I can see is bent poles and shredded plastic. I'm so glad we've got the glass one for next year.
James zip wired from the Tyne bridge, because he's insane.
Finally, some fic comments that have stuck with me. I got a lovely one from someone who said they didn't know the fandom but still really enjoyed a story I wrote, which was lovely to hear. Then the same day I saw a rec list for Pete/Mikey on tumblr, a few of my stories were on there but on one of them it said they liked the story but felt trashy reading it. Poor coma Pete and nurse Mikey, labelled in such a way.
ETA: Forgot to say, I love the bunnyisacat instagram, which I think is being run by Alicia. Bunny remains my favourite bandom pet, and seeing her dressed up and so resigned always makes me smile.

Date: 2014-10-26 04:35 pm (UTC)Hurray for sneaky naps and comments on fic. I hope Corey's been having a good time, despite the hotel mess up.

Date: 2014-10-26 05:19 pm (UTC)I haven't heard any actual details if Corey had fun, but it's his first con and he's with good friends, so I'm sure they had a blast, even with the extra travel.

Date: 2014-10-26 04:42 pm (UTC)I hope Corey has a fabulous time! It is good he could join his friends, even with the hotel mix up.
I took a nap too. :-)
I'm still enjoying first season Haven. I even picked it for Yuletide.

Date: 2014-10-26 05:22 pm (UTC)I'm sure he's having an amazing time. After all the time making cloaks, swords, arrows etc I hope he has photos of them all dressed up, too.
Naps are good, even when they're unexpected.
I still like Haven, there's just a specific story arc I really don't like at the moment. But I won't spoil, especially as at heart it is a great show.

Date: 2014-10-26 04:53 pm (UTC)And James zip-wiring must have been such fun for him (though maybe a bit cold this time of year? *brr*) - I loved the one time I got to do it.
And yay for getting lovely comments \o/ They are always deserved :)

Date: 2014-10-26 05:16 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed Maze Runner. It was nice to see Dylan in a different role.
He loved the zip wire, though as he's on the heavy side went down really fast. The two catchers at the bottom actually jumped to the side when he approached *g* It does look fun, so am glad you enjoyed it, too.
Thank you ♥

Date: 2014-10-26 08:23 pm (UTC)(Re: ending, afterwards the friend I was with said "sequel" and I said "trilogy," and I am much amused that I was right.)

Date: 2014-10-27 02:52 pm (UTC)I enjoyed the film a lot, but the end really did surprise me. It shouldn't have done though, the done thing in YA fiction seems to be trilogys right now.

Date: 2014-10-27 12:19 am (UTC)Also, re fic comments, maybe you can take a leaf out of Gabe's book and say if you made them dance, you don't need to care if you're a guilty pleasure for them.

Date: 2014-10-27 02:47 pm (UTC)Yeah, the greenhouse is in a terrible state, especially so as the wind is still strong so we haven't been able to get outside to clean up completely.
Gabe has very good ideas, and you too. I mean, trashy or not they did still like it enough to put it on a rec list.

Date: 2014-10-27 12:19 pm (UTC)Oh no, sucks about the greenhouse! And I saw those pictures of James on IG, that's ridic. Did he have a good time?
Looool at the "trashy" comment. But aww, it's great to get sweet comments! :DD

Date: 2014-10-27 02:50 pm (UTC)James loved doing the zip wire, he's strange like that.
The trashy comment amused me more than upset me. Especially so as it was on a rec list. I'm okay with writing trashy stuff that people actually enjoy.

Date: 2014-10-27 06:00 pm (UTC)Corey's been to his first con, he's become such a grownup! And clearly fannishness is an inherited condition :-)
Poor Milo! Having to make do with you two instead of his beloved Corey. He probably thought it served you right to wake up to a face full of cat!
Awwwww, you're such an evil mum!
Oh no, not another greenhouse gone with the wind! You've been really unlucky with your greenhouses lately. Getting a glass one instead sounds like a very worthwile investment.
I hope he enjoyed himself. I've always thought zip wiring looked really cool.
Hooray for lovely comments on your fics! I don't understand that reccer though. Either own your guilty pleasures or keep quiet about them!
