Dec. 17th, 2014 03:04 pmThank you to
venetia_sassy for the adorable card,
romanticalgirl for the card and photo cards. They really are gorgeous and I was thrilled when I saw them. Also thank you to
rikes for the card and very lovely penguin earrings. I love them a lot and am wearing them right now.
Yesterday went fine in the end. There was a little bit of confusion over the bloods as I had a list of tests to have one day and then a second fasting test to have on a day two list. The lady taking the bloods thought that meant I could go back at any time and suggested after Christmas. The lady at reception didn't agree and said it needed to be today, then suggested a 2:30 appointment, which would have been fine if it wasn't for the fasting part. So I was shoved in first thing before clinics officially started.
The appointment at the hospital went okay, too. More uncomfortable than painful, and really, I worried myself over nothing.
On the night we went out to eat with my SiL and her partner. She'd won a competition for a meal for four up to £80 at a new Indian restaurant that had opened. It was such a nice place, small and in a basement so we'd have never have gone there without this win. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive, and really it was just a fun filled and good night. Though by the time we got home I was wiped. I couldn't wait to get into bed.
And man, the doctor has just phoned to say she'd been looking at the blood test results and the thyroid one was a bit off. She asked if I'd been checked before or had family history, and nope for both. She said to go back for a retest in 6 weeks, so can't be that concerned. But still, I don't like the doctors phoning me like that.
But back to what I was talking about. Also yesterday I got all but two parcels posted. So, cards and other parcels are winging their way around the world right now. Maybe this is the year they really will get there on time.
ETA: I knew I wanted to say something else. This is really late but there's no reason you can't check out previous entries.
mfac is a multi fannish advent over on LJ. Saba puts a lot of work into the comm and each day I look forward to what she's included in the post. Go check it out, I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy.

Date: 2014-12-17 09:49 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear the tests and the hospital appointment went relatively well. But I'll keep my fingers crossed that thyroid thingy is just a small hiccup and will be gone next time!
The restaurant visit sounds fabulous. Indian food is so good! (When it's not too hot for me, that is :-)
Hooray for getting your cards and parcels posted! This really is the year, apparently :-)

Date: 2014-12-18 04:26 pm (UTC)I was so pleased all the doctor/hospital visits were over with for now, so was surprised to get that phone call from the doctor. It's good that she does take the time to call, but I'd prefer that she didn't need to.
I had to laugh because James can't cope with really hot food. He picked lamb chops, which looked delicious, but had some kind of coating that had him downing nearly a full drink. If we go back again I doubt he'll be having those, again.
I'm so happy seeing the cards and parcels start to arrive. The last two should go next week, which I know will be late for Christmas, but I'm counting it as a win for arriving the actual holiday season.

Date: 2014-12-18 06:16 pm (UTC)Glad to hear you got through all the appointments ok, and your dinner out sounds lovely.
I hope the thyroid won't turn out to be too much of a PITA. Mine tends to flare up and then settle back down, so I haven't had to be on the meds constantly, which is nice.

Date: 2014-12-19 08:50 am (UTC)Thank you, and yeah, the dinner out was good, and a very welcome change.
Dad came to visit yesterday and I asked him if there was thyroid issues on his side of the family, and apparently both nanna and dad have to take meds for it. So, looks like there may be something there. But it's nice to know it may not be a constant thing.
