We went to give our month notice at the registry office yesterday. And also paid for the room/service, so that's one thing ticked off the list. I was surprised to be told part of that process was us being separated during the conversation with the registrar so he could quiz us individually to ensure we weren't being coerced into marriage or it was a sham marriage. It was no problem though, at this point I know James' personal details as thoroughly as my own.

The day before was pretty great, too. Because our new couch came! It's beautiful, the most expensive and comfortable piece of furniture I've ever owned. You can see it here. It's soft and squishy and both the end parts have electric recliners. James has claimed the one on the right as that's the one which he can reach the button with his good hand, which I guess is a good excuse. But every part is comfy. I love the recliners and it's very satisfying and comfortable to sit in the curve.

We did have to leave one of the chairs out as it was just too big. It was originally supposed to be the same length on both bits, but that would have blocked the way through the room, so I now have the spare chair as a very comfortable and plush computer chair.

Also that day I got a very unexpected gift card for £25 from Evans after being stabbed by the pin. They did take my name and address for the accident book but as I didn't make an actual complaint I didn't expect that. James also got a speeding fine for £100 that day but we'll brush over that.

So yes, despite the fact it's been really cold, snowing, raining and sleeting for the last week it's been a good few days.

And unrelated to everything, I watched Inside Out today and really enjoyed it. It had such a cool concept with some pretty deep themes. But what made me laugh was seeing inside the cat's head, because that's just how it would be.

NGL, I totes LOLed at the idea of you and James having a sham marriage. Like, I can't think of two people who couldn't be more married in everything but paper. #IJS

Your couch looks so awesome (and hey, you got a bonus!new computer chair too).

It's so neat that Evans sent you a gift card. Good customer service is aweome.

Inside Out had been so hyped that, by the time I finally got to see it, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. It was great that I enjoyed a lot. The cat's head bit made me guffaw.

Awesome sofa! That looks really splendid. I hope you have many years of comfortable lounging.

The cat in Inside Out made me guffaw, too. I liked the whole film, very clever. Boyband Island also made me smile!

LOLOL I can imagine your face at sham marriage shenanigans! Your 20 odd years together have all been a ruse! *g*

Ooohhh, definitely a pretty couch! Much more stylish than the previous one, if I can say that. *g*

And a bonus, plush computer chair is aces!

I really enjoyed inside out too! And yeah, I LOLed at the cat's thoughts. *g*

How very conscientious of them. And quite sweet in a way. Though I agree with Kimberly, your 20 years together have clearly all been a sham ;-)

Your new couch looks sooo comfy!! (I'm sure the cats agree :-)

That's very good customer service indeed!

I hope your weather has taken a turn for the better just like ours. Though the wind was quite strong it completely lacked the edge of iceiness it's had uptil now. The pale sunshine was also very welcome.

That couch looks great!

And the separation thing is interesting! I suppose that could be a very helpful thing in some situations, though I know a lot of people who got married without knowing all that many personal details for their SO.
