. See me blinking in puzzlement at the idea of filling "the bird feeders a few days ago". I put out about 1-1/2 gallons of seed, twice a day!!! Granted, some of that gets eaten by my neighbor's chickens, and I'm working on a way to let the little birds in and keep the chickens out. But even before the chickens, it was 2 gallons a day, about 12-1/2 lbs.
And to hell with bird feeders; I couldn't keep up. I just dump it in the middle of my drive, and the birds have enough of a clear area around them that they have a chance of escaping the feral cats.
After all these years, it still amazes me, the glimpses of the different lives we all lead. .
