To the surprise of no one I'm sure, I did order the fox dress and it came yesterday. I suck at selfies, especially ones where I'm trying to show an outfit, but you can sort of see me wearing it here.

Yesterday I'd got a day ahead of myself date-wise and was messaging Kayleigh making plans to go to hers as it's her birthday today. Except, it's not until tomorrow. Thankfully I was talking to her or I'd have turned up early, and then no doubt would have been early for my middle nephew's birthday which is actually on Sunday.

But, at least I got to the post-office and posted some stuff. So I'll give myself one tick for getting stuff done correctly.

It was my oldest nephew's birthday a few days ago, but as he's still in foster care we couldn't see him. We did send presents and a card, and James is on the list for a weekly phone-call so got to say belated happy birthday last night. Hopefully, he'll be back home in February, until then he's with a wonderful foster carer who's looking after him beautifully.

Next Wednesday we've a social worker coming to assess our house and start off a police record check as emergency carers of my youngest niece and nephew if they ever have to leave home. Very much a worst-case scenario situation which I'm sure won't happen as my SiL has turned her life around big time, but needs to be in place as a backup. The house is in good condition right now and apart from the spare room, is well decorated, and neither of us has bad records, but it's still unnerving to think about.

After two people on my flist were talking about it I've started to watch Prodigal Son, and I can see the attraction, very much so. I'll be watching episode two later so hopefully, it's as good as the first.

I've also been catching up on recorded tv and the other night finished the last eps of 911. I do like that show and loved the public getting involved to help Buck. Now I've moved onto Station 19 which I'd watch more of tonight but it's the celeb Masterchef finale and I need to watch that, and last nights ep as I didn't get to see it.

With whumptober and kinktober my inbox is overrun with MCU notifications from AO3. Thankfully most fills are short because omg, so much fic.

Yeah, I would be nervous about the social worker too. Hopefully it goes off without a hitch.

Ahaha, you've joined the Prodigal SOn brigade too, eh? It's decent, but I must admit FBI is pinging me more- but the Law and Order franchise always worked for me, so I am not surprised.

Prodigal Son is a bit too intense, but I am hooked by the intrigue of the second ep, so I'll stick with it.

It is so pretty, I’m glad you got it! It reminded me of something I saw yesterday a fox scarf (I was looking for a Halloween one but they were all gone)

It’s easy to get muddled up with birthdays especially when so many are close together we’ve got a few around now too and I fail at remembering mum’s friends

Aww I hope your nephew had a nice birthday despite all the stress of everything

I hope that all goes well, I’m sure it will

Oh what’s that? I need to watch the last masterchef too

Hee I can imagine!

Also thank you! As I was typing this the postman came so I’ve got the cards to sent! I’m gonna sort through them this afternoon 🖤 you’re awesome!

Yeah, it first came onto my radar because of Mouse too, but once I knew LDP was on the show in a lead role, I was sold. I'm such a sucker. *g*

Yeah, there are a lot of TV I am kinda into this time around, but I doubt I'll watch more, ahaha. I'm hearing good things about Batwoman, but I'd need to watch more TV. I did get CBS all access to watch the new Picard show. So that is on my agenda.

🖤

Yeah what’s up with everyone being all clustered together like that?

Awww that’s good! I’m so glad🖤

Oh it sounds interesting and just like the kind of thing I’d watch! Is it on Netflix? I’ve not watched walking dead in ages, though given the title it seems ironic he’s in it!

I’m going through them now and I’ve already squeed because there’s a few cards that I really wanted in there (like Luke and Princess Leia!) So I’m super grateful 🖤🖤

Eeep! Birthdays are like buses like that

Boo, I’ll take a look sometime

Not yet! I’m glad it’s back and I’m hoping to watch soon

Yeah, I got about 13 new ones and I have that many left to get niw🥰

The dress looks so pretty on you - I'm glad you gave in :D.

I'm sure the social worker and police check will be absolutely fine - they'll want you to pass it so that the kids can be at home supportedly - but I get why it's nervewracking. All the good thoughts your way <3

I've very much enjoyed this season of Masterchef - I'm excited to see what they make in the final!

You're doing a good thing, to get things in place in case your niece and nephew need it. I hope it goes smoothly, and then it's not needed!

Yes, definitely pleased with the finalists and the winner :) - they seemed to genuinely get on, as well, which was lovely.

You're looking awesome in the new dress!

It's better to get ahead than behind!

Yeah, I can definitely understand feeling unnerved by having someone come into your home like that. I know I would hate it! It would feel like being judged! I'm sure everything will turn out alright but I promise to keep my fingers crossed just in case.

You look so cute in the dress! A+ decision to get it.

I hope the social worker visit goes smoothly and doesn't cause you too much stress. I think it's very cool that you're willing to be on call like that.

I'm glad you got the fox dress, 1. because it's adorable and looks amazing with your hair color and complexion, and 2. I just think you should always be treating yourself to cool things, quite honestly.

You're a good aunt. <3

Prodigal Son is definitely on my to-watch list. Thanks for the reminder!

Already commented on the family issue but *hugs* anyway.

So happy you're joining the Prodigies! (I didn't make up the name, ok, I'm just going with the flow). I think each new episode is even better than the previous one but, as you might have guessed, I'm not exactly not biased so don't take my word for it (they are, though, for realz!!)

PS: I just knew you'd look great in the dress!

That dress is so hip! I love it (also, hiiiii your face!)

Here's hoping the social worker check went well.

I've heard of Prodigal Son but the promo isn't exactly convincing me. Right now, the only actual!TV shows I'm watching are American Horror Story: 1984 and S21 of Law & Order: SVU. I had quit the latter two seasons ago after they did a terrible thing to one of my fave characters, brought in a new (super bland) character to replace him, and focused 80% of the storylines on Olivia Benson and her son.

This season is way more balanced since one of the OG showrunners from S14-16 is back. I'm back on my bullshit of being invested in what happens (even though a lot of the overall mood is somber.)

There are SO MANY CHALLENGES AND EXCHANGES, ZOMG! Even if I were to set aside those that are flash exchanges and/or have minimal word counts, it is A LOT. XD

Okay, full disclosure, I grew up watching a lot of 80s slasher films (Sleepaway Camp, Friday the 13th, etc) so my squee for AHS 1984 is deffo biased due to that connection. FTR, the only AHS season I didn't watch was Cult--which I just couldn't stomach sitting thru at all. I liked Apocalypse because it brought my witches back (even though it kinda wilted toward the end.)

1984 is v. ridic and gory. The first 2 episodes are so-so but things begin to pick up in episode 3 and go full-on bonkers. I think there are 2 more episodes before the season is over? It's deffo a fun and OTT season that, although not as great as Murder House, Asylum or Coven, I deffo like it a lot more than Roanoke and Hotel.

Yeah, my exchange schedule is PACKED for Nov-Dec so I am done signing up for stuff. ;)

I think that Murder House was super original, Asylum was a blast because it had so many things in the plot, and Coven had witches, hahah.

Hotel isn't, imo, bad but I did think that it tried too hard to be 'extreme'. Cult was a case of 'too close to reality' for me. Also, The Purge film series has done that whole trope way better.
