Snowflake Challenge 10

Clem is fixed and is being driven home at some point today. Which of course means we can't go anywhere as they said they could bring her back at any time. That's annoying as it's beautifully sunny again and we need to go to Costco to get cat litter. But, until the car is back we can do nothing but wait.
But, that does mean I can do Snowflake.

I'm sure some of you won't be surprised at this, but the person I'm picking is
arsenicjade. Arsenic has long moved on to other fandoms, but I first met and got to know her during bandom. However, I'd enjoyed her work in popslash before that and MCU after, it was just bandom was where we connected.
I love her writing and how she's so unashamedly into h/c. While we didn't mesh on every like, the vast majority of them we did and she helped me grow as a writer and there wasn't a story from her I didn't enjoy. She's someone who likes what she likes and gives no damns about that, and I really respect that. Plus, she's a kickass person too. We both loved Mikey and Ryan, obviously loved h/c and found family, it was just this fantastic time and she was one of the driving forces behind me encouraging me to write and actually finish When Day is Night Alone, which remains the longest thing I've written.
Wednesday Night Boys, A Light To Burn All the Empires, Home Is a Name, just a few of the many, many stories of hers that I love.
You can read her popslash and bandom stories here, just check warnings if you do.
I'm also going to mention
themoononastick While she doesn't post on LJ now she's been my beta forever and still betas every time I ask. Over the years she's been so incredibly encouraging and because she's beta read for me for so long she has no issues poking fun at mistakes. Not in a mean way, but enough she makes me laugh at myself at times. A comment that will forever stick in my mind from her is 'there is no snot in sex' and yes, that is true, and the snot was deleted from the scene. Just in case anyone thinks I was experimenting with some kink, it was a scene where Pete had a cold. So yeah, L is great and even though she'll never see this I want to give her the nod.
In fact, all beta readers are great. I'm lucky to have had many people help me over the years, off the top of my head,
sperrywink,
teigh_corvus,
glitteryv,
romantical,
nopseud,
pensnest,
eglantiere and others that don't post now, and I appreciate them all. Beta reading is a thankless job and time consuming I know. So to everyone that works behind the scenes to help fic be as good as it can be, I say, thank you. You're all stars.
But, that does mean I can do Snowflake.

Date: 2020-01-20 06:05 pm (UTC)And yes, yes I do! I miss those times when I was so immersed in fic, changing things and adding things and never ever saying, is that too much? Because no, it can never be too much :D

Date: 2020-01-20 08:23 pm (UTC)I hope the wait isn't/wasn't too annoying and that there's still time to get the errands done after.

Date: 2020-01-21 07:30 am (UTC)Well, Clem didn't come back until after four so we didn't have time to get to Costco. But, at least she is back and looking very shiny.

Date: 2020-01-21 04:39 am (UTC)ahaha EVERYONE ELSE KEEPS CREDITING THEIR BETAS. i really should have in mine, because honestly, betas (read: for me, literal hand-holders) are the only way anything gets done.

Date: 2020-01-21 07:27 am (UTC)A good beta is worth their weight in gold. I treasure all of mine, and it always amazes me the work they'll put in behind the scenes, encouraging, fixing, prodding things into place, without getting the kudos/comments in response.

Date: 2020-01-22 10:16 am (UTC)Though I can point fingers at various folk for getting me into bandom,
It's always a pleasure, being able to help your words find their way in the world, Terri. I so enjoy how you tell a tale. <3

Date: 2020-01-22 05:57 pm (UTC)And wow, Arsenicjade. I haven't thought or read her stories in awhile, but I definitely remember when she was posting the prison!au daily and it brightened my morning every day.

Date: 2020-01-23 04:52 pm (UTC)Oh yeah, the prison!AU was great. She's been one of my favourite writers for a very long time.

Date: 2020-01-22 06:58 pm (UTC)Arsenic wrote some fabulous bandom stories!
Good betas are the foundation on which good fanfic is built!
