Nov. 6th, 2020 06:20 pmHappiest of birthdays to the very lovely
wenchpixie. I hope you're having a good day ♥
Today I managed to book an Asda Christmas delivery slot for just before Christmas because no way am I attempting the madness that would be going into the shops then. Phoned the vets to say Milo is doing okay on his tablets and booked Murphy in for his boosters in a few weeks. Picked up my compression wrap that had finally arrived at the chemist and then phoned to book an appointment at the lymph clinic to be taught how to put it on. The wrap is actually bulkier than I expected and also tan coloured, so I do wonder if I'll manage to get my leggings on over the top. However, as a bonus, they've sent two instead of one so I could try both legs at once.
As some of you may remember I do a load of surveys, product tests etc for extra money and a few weeks ago got accepted on a royal mail one to help them check the efficiency of the postal service. Basically they send me different kinds of pre-stamped letters and I post them with a smart chip and they track how long it takes for them to get to the destination, and vice versa for the letters sent to me. I get paid in stamps for that, which are always welcome, and today I needed to post one of my letters so that was another job done.
Got home and my aunt phoned me, for the first time in months, so we ended up talking for well over an hour. Which was nice but I was freezing when I was done as she called as I was about to start cleaning litter trays so I got comfortable on the stairs and just didn't move until we were done. I'll miss seeing her house at Christmas but she's said she'll send some photos.
We had some good news yesterday. James should have been back at work by now, but Covid put paid to that. But, he applied for and was given the grant that low paid workers can apply for if they have to isolate and can't work from home. I don't think I've mentioned but his pay is halved right now due to the amount of time he's been off sick, and while he gets Statutory sick pay on top, money has still been tight so that payment was very welcome and we can relax a little in terms of Christmas.
I have to say, I'm looking forward to the time where I don't need to gather my energy back after one trip to the doctors and post office. Which is, comment and commenting catch up tomorrow.

Date: 2020-11-08 03:30 pm (UTC)The grant was such a relief. I do think our government has handled many covid things badly, but have to admit, this grant is one of the positives.

Date: 2020-11-08 08:46 pm (UTC)I'm glad you managed to get a slot booked - that's been tougher to do than usual this year, with more people turning to the deliveries.
I'm glad you'll at least get to see your aunt's house remotely, I know she does a brilliant job with hit
GOOD news about James, I'm so pleased he got that.

Date: 2020-11-09 07:15 am (UTC)I was so lucky to get a slot booked. I saw someone mention they'd gone live on a forum and by the time I clicked the 23rd and 24th had already gone completely. Of course, now I'm wondering if the same situation from a few years ago will happen where Asda ran out of some Christmas dinner sides and subbed with multiple packs of fresh stuffing. We were eating it for days.
My aunt already has one of her trees up on the landing. She did say she was considering not decorating this year, mainly because she's only been able to have one of her daughter's in her house for months now so thought what was the point? But thankfully changed her mind.
I was thrilled when James told me he'd been awarded the grant. It's going to make a big difference, even if some of it will probably be spent at the dentist now.
