Thank you [personal profile] rikes, [personal profile] saba1789, [personal profile] pensnest for the cards, and [personal profile] turlough for the gift which is now under the tree. You're all stars ♥

Kayleigh surprised me by bringing me a lovely poinsettia this morning. Some of you may remember two years back when she wouldn't celebrate Christmas at all so I took her a tiny poinsettia knowing it would be the only thing she'd display. Now here we are and she's ridiculously happy, getting married in the new year and is very content. It's very lovely to see.

Then it was off grocery shopping because I realised today that with James going back to work on Friday, and then working all next week until the day before Christmas eve, we only had four shopping days left. Not that it's bad, I've got an Asda delivery booked and all the Christmas gifts apart from odds and ends have been bought. But I still needed some things from the actual shops, so off we went. And yeah, I know it's six shopping days technically, but I really don't want to be out and about the weekend before Christmas.

But, I've sent off parcels and international cards -- though goodness knows when they'll arrive, and have the UK ones ready to post tomorrow so feel on top of things.

Getting home we got great news. James' uncle will be getting the COVID vaccination at the weekend. He's classed as extremely critically vulnerable so has been strictly shielding since the beginning of the year, but both he and his wife will be getting the vaccine. Too late for the family Christmas he wants so badly but it's amazing to think they're actually getting it. The first people I know personally to do so.

It's arrived, yay!

That's so sweet of her. I remember that! It's so good to know she's so happy.

That sounds very smart of you. Just thinking of having to visit the shops the weekend before Christmas makes me tired.

Go you! I'll keep my fingers crossed everything will arrive in time! (I felt so accomplished when I got mine sent over a week before the final date but I'm fully prepared to hear that some didn't get delivered until after the holidays. That always seems to happen somehow.)

That's so good to hear about James' uncle. I don't think vaccination here in Sweden will start until January.

What a lovely full circle gift from Kayleigh, it's so brilliant to see how far she's come.

What brilliant news for James' uncle - it might not get them their Christmas, but SUCH a big light at the end of the tunnel for them.

How great that Kayleigh's in such a good place, and also the good news about the vaccine! I hope it will give James's uncle and his wife a little more freedom and peace of mind.

And congrats on being so on top of your preparations. I do have my international stuff out, but I still have a handful of cards to write and presents to buy, so I've got to get organized about that soon!

Aw, Kayleigh and her poinsettia. I'm so happy for her.

God, I know! I can't believe it's finally happening! The first U.S. citizen was vaccinated yesterday and it was a woman from my borough! I'm low priority, non-essential, etc., so who knows when they'll get around to me, but progress is being made and it's SO GOOD TO SEE IT.
