The Snowflake Challenge today is to create your own challenge.
Honestly, I'm not sure where to go with that yet, but this Is there a challenge you've seen in the past that's no longer being run, and you wish it was? part of the bigger prompt made me think of the Bandom h/c challenge that ran over at LJ.
First, omg, that was back in 2009, which meant the responses were posted to journals, and second, I've just spent so much time wallowing in nostalgia. That was such a brilliant time for bandom and probably around the peak time of me writing and interacting. Though admittedly, it was a peak that lasted years.
Man, that challenge was the best. Totally ridiculous and everyone knew it, which is why I had no issue at all just having fun writing a plane crash onto a deserted island. Because of course that could happen, of course!
So many names there that are long gone, and so many brilliant prompts I still wish had been filled.
There was a fire alarm at James' work yesterday, and he found out the safety plan for him hadn't been updated. Because of his disabilities, he's not allowed to use the stairs in an emergency situation and of course, the lifts are out of bounds. What's supposed to happen is he's put on the rescue chair and taken to the ground floor. But when the alarm went off they found out that the chair was still on the top floor where he used to work, and due to staff shortages no one was around to carry him down anyway. So he had to be sort of manhandled down with people holding his arms. Which isn't ideal to say the least, but I guess it's good they found out now when it was a false alarm and not an actual emergency situation.
I have new Prodigal Son and This Is Us to watch, this is very happy-making. However, I also need to get some groceries for Kayleigh and Lucy and drop them off in their garden. So, tv watching will have to wait for now. I expect my best big sister eva! badge is there waiting when I arrive *g*

Date: 2021-01-13 04:29 pm (UTC)Aww I miss the old days of things like that. I always wonder why dreamwidth hasn’t had bandom commas and such like that. It’s always so sad looking back, seeing things infilled or people long gone🥺
Aww no, but yeah good job they found out now
Yay new stuff!

I miss the big LJ days too, but I guess that's fandoms for you. They always keep changing.
Yep, at least they do know now. Not that he likes having to be carried down on a chair, but it's part of the health and safety policy.
I'm looking forward to watching. Which will also be tomorrow now I suspect.

Date: 2021-01-14 03:56 pm (UTC)It has to be hard to sort things like that out when the number of people actually at work keeps changing. I really feel for you, and everyone who has to deal with the logistics.
Such enjoyable nostalgia!

Date: 2021-01-14 12:00 am (UTC)That sounds a bit scary about the lack of preparation for James in the alarm. But as you say, better to shake that out now so they can fix it.
And you will certainly deserve that badge, whether it manifests physically or not!

Exactly. Much better now than an actual emergency situation.
Well, thank you. I will wear my virtual badge with pride :D

Date: 2021-01-15 11:49 am (UTC)And, I really feel for companies atm trying to sort out things like this. Getting things in place when staffing numbers are all over the place must be a nightmare.

Date: 2021-01-16 05:11 pm (UTC)Oh dear! As you say, it's nice that it wasn't an emergency when they found out but it really shouldn't have happened at all. They clearly need to be better at planning!

Date: 2021-01-18 02:47 pm (UTC)I'm just glad they did find out the chair was in the wrong place due to a false alarm. At least it has been moved now.
