Apr. 29th, 2021 04:24 pmFor the first time in a very long time, I can say I've got a fic ready to send to beta. I won't do so until tomorrow so I can read it with fresh eyes in the morning and make any last-minute changes. But, it'll be done well in time for the deadline which is a relief.
It helped that I had an early start and got a lot of things done this morning, leaving time for writing this afternoon. It's Costa's last birthday celebration of the month and they were selling at-home products such as cans of cold coffee, ground coffee and pod coffee for 50p an item, with each app user allowed three items. As James goes to work at 7 I was ready for then and decided to head off to the shop just after he left. And found it was good I did as they only had one ground coffee left and a few pods. I suspect that the poor baristas will have spent the day telling people that no, there's no stock in the back. So I got my items, a latte and was home around 8.
I did get caught in a hail storm while out, and then the rain came down heavily, but now it's really sunny out there. So much so I'm off for a bit of a potter in the greenhouse when I post this, where hopefully the seeds have started to show some life. I do have tomato plants and a cucumber plant growing like crazy on the kitchen window, but I want my seeds to germinate too.
The scaffolding came down today. I've no idea if the roofer has been and changed the connection on the solar panel or not as he may have been on one of the days when we were out. I suspect I'll find out when the electrician comes banging on the door, communication really is a bit lacking for this firm.

Date: 2021-04-29 06:54 pm (UTC)I've never been caught out in hail, just rain. Glad you made it home safely and could then go potter in your greenhouse.
And YAY FIC!! I am pleased you finished and with time to spare, considering everything we discussed.

Date: 2021-04-30 08:53 am (UTC)The hail was so unexpected. No lie, I'm ready for some more warm days.
I know, right!? I need to email and catch you up about the direction I went.

Date: 2021-04-30 03:25 am (UTC)The hail does not sound fun, I hope it didn't hurt you. And fingers crossed for your seeds!
The solar panel sounds like such a saga. Hopefully at some point this will all be finished with and you can relax in your warm bath and look back on this and laugh.

Date: 2021-04-30 08:50 am (UTC)Thankfully the hail didn't last long, but really, it's nearly May. The weather needs to stop all this weirdness.
When phoned the green grant people didn't know if the solar panel had been fixed, but were phoning to find out. So, still in the dark about that. I'm choosing to believe it must be, that or I'll look up one day and the scaffolding will be back.

Date: 2021-04-30 08:50 am (UTC)Still nothing doing for the seeds, though not surprising as it's so cold still.

Date: 2021-04-30 03:36 pm (UTC)The seeds are doing nothing as of yet. Well, the ones in the greenhouse anyway, the indoor ones are going great.

Date: 2021-05-01 07:43 pm (UTC)I feel for you getting caught in a hail storm! I did once and it was awful. Those tiny balls hurt!
I'm keeping everything crossed all your seeds will start to grow asap!
It all sounds incredibly frustrating!

Date: 2021-05-04 10:32 am (UTC)The hail storm was very unexpected. I mean, it's May now for goodness sake. It shouldn't be this cold.
My seeds are growing! Only tiny hints of green and I'm still having to bring into the house at night, but still, it's a start.
Frustrating is right. The roofer was supposed to come yesterday but as we were out I've no idea if he came or not. And probably won't know until the electrician turns up.
