I really enjoyed F9 when I saw it. Reviews said it was a film where you have to leave your brain at the door, and that's true. However, no matter how ridiculous the plot it's visually fantastic, has such a great sense of found/existing family, interesting characters and is really entertaining, which in the end is all that I want. Also, I love that
they still maintain that Brian remains in the verse. He's out there keeping the kids safe after stepping back from his former life, and enjoying what he does. He may not be seen on screen, but a chair is left out for him, he's talked about and he's on his way at the end, very much still a part of their family.
Sadly we didn't get to Mog as they had no slots left, but the plan is to try for tomorrow instead and then head off to Metrocentre after.
Thinking about Mog, I was delighted to see a cat cafe modern AU for the Musketeers, but while I enjoyed it I got caught up in no sanitising going on, which was important for cat cafes even before COVID, with hands sanitised and outdoor shoes taken off. And the fact the people could just walk in without booking. Obviously, cat cafe practices are different the world over, but I'm so used to the ones here it threw me from the story a little.

The Sunshine challenge starts soon and they've already posted the list of challenges here. I'm looking forward to seeing them explained as they're intriguing but vague right now.
Corey had his first vaccine yesterday. Originally he'd scheduled it so if he got side effects he could easily have time off. But it turns out he still went into work last night and is going in tonight. Apparently, all he's had so far is a sore arm, so hopefully, it stays that way. I'm just glad he's on the road to be fully protected as he lives and works in an area where the delta variant is skyrocketing, and of course, his job means he sees multiple people daily.
It was three years since mam died yesterday. Strange how it's been so long but still feels like yesterday on occasions.

Yeah they are so vague, I’m curious
That’s good he got the jab and has only had the arm thing

Date: 2021-06-28 04:04 pm (UTC)Thank you! No slot has been booked yet but I keep checking.
I'm looking forward to the challenge. The one last year took me by surprise with the theme, especially as they didn't preview it like this year. So, I hope I get more inspiration this time.
Corey's still doing okay, he phoned not long back. Said he was tired and hot last night but didn't know if that was the jab or the fact he was acting manager last night so didn't leave the club until after 3am.
Thanks. It's a date that comes along with some pretty horrible memories, so I'm always glad to get it over with.

Date: 2021-07-01 09:41 am (UTC)I completely agree. I never thought I'd enjoy films about cars so much, and yet, I really do. Mostly because they're so engaging in many ways.
I'm relieved his first vaccination is done. With cases rocketing it's reassuring to know he's got some protection.

Date: 2021-07-01 09:38 am (UTC)The little things can really throw you from stories, which is a shame as like you say, often they don't actually matter. I enjoyed the cat cafe story but I couldn't stop thinking about the hygiene and appointment issues.
I'm so glad he's on his way to being fully protected.

Good to hear Corey's now partially vaccinated and that he didn't get any of the bad side effects!

Date: 2021-07-01 09:39 am (UTC)We have visited Mog at last. With social distancing, they have to have fewer tables which makes getting a slot harder, but I got there in the end.
Corey got away with a sore arm only which is great.
