Feb. 1st, 2022 02:25 pmI saw James' work Covid response in action yesterday.
He went to work as normal then at 10am phoned to say he was on his way home to take a PCR test at the location in our town as he'd been coughing and his work have a very strong test if any possibility of infection policy.
He had the test at half ten, was home a few minutes after that to isolate until the results, which he got this morning at 7:30, negative thankfully. So is back at work now.
To be honest, his cough was partially my fault as I'd made him laugh when having breakfast and he'd inhaled his coffee, leading to a mega coughing fit that must have irritated his throat.
Thankfully it won't go down as sickness as he was sent home, and I have to say I was impressed with how smoothly the whole process worked. Neither of us thought he'd be positive as he takes regular LFTs and had no symptoms, but of course, they have to err on the side of caution due to working with so many people.
While all that was going on with him I was meeting Kayleigh and Bodhi at Costa for a coffee and a catch-up. So I got cute baby cuddles and a coconut latte while putting the world to rights, and of course, talking about Mr Tumnus.
We did our usual shopping at Company on Sunday. They'd had a delivery of leftover M&S groceries, including the posh chocolates I bought for Pauline for £20 which Company were selling for £2:50. We bought some, you know, just to make sure we hadn't given Pauline something terrible.
But, we also needed jam and Company didn't have any, but what they did have was M&S trifle spread. Also, James got himself a M&S haggis en croute. Now I never tried either but from his reactions, there's a reason certain products end up unsold and sent to discount shops *g*
Today I've been blown to the post office and back and am now trying to encourage myself to go wrestle the double mattress and bed base downstairs as the bulk waste people are coming tomorrow and as that can be any time from 7am, I really need everything down by tonight.

Date: 2022-02-02 08:21 am (UTC)It would have been unfair, but apparently, all Covid stuff goes down as non-medical absence so that's good.
It turns out the trifle spread is a little strange tasting. Which is a letdown as it does sound promising.

Date: 2022-02-02 07:15 am (UTC)Yay for auntie & baby cuddles also! And that's very conscientious of you to do that chocolate quality control.

M&S haggis en croute
I... what? I like haggis, but that just doesn't compute in my head as a food concept. I don't understand. Why?
Hope you managed to get the bed suitably wrangled!

I thought so!
As for the haggis en route, James ate a small part before noping out. Haggis coated in neeps, tatties and then pastry is a step too far it seems. He said the pastry made the veggies greasy and they were also mushy and the overall effect was something only fit for the bin.
The bed is gone! I'm very glad I got everyone yesterday as they were here before 8.

to fill with other stuff!no subject
Date: 2022-02-02 04:24 pm (UTC)Haggis en croute... I can see that. But apparently, not good after all. I mean, any sensible company would expect the neeps and tatties to be served separately!
M&S trifle spread. Seek!

Oh yes, very important you know that ;-P
Trifle spread sounds like something made entirely of artificial flavouring and colours. Am I wrong? And haggis en croute sounds like a crime against nature!
I hope the matress and bed base wranling went well!

Date: 2022-02-06 09:12 pm (UTC)The covid response sounds reassuringly robust (as you'd hope and expect, given what he does, and how important it is that it can continue), but I'm glad he's fine!

Date: 2022-02-13 05:12 pm (UTC)You're so right. Sometimes it's obvious why they have stacks of stuff that hasn't sold. The answer being, it tastes horrible. Thankfully, at least we find out by buying cheap, if I'd paid actually M&S prices and got grossness I'd have been very annoyed.
The covid response sounds reassuringly robust
It really was robust, and as you said, understandably so. Despite what that idiot Boris is saying they're also keeping masks, distancing etc going at work.

just to make sure we hadn't given Pauline something terrible.
Well, obviously!
