I saw James' work Covid response in action yesterday.

He went to work as normal then at 10am phoned to say he was on his way home to take a PCR test at the location in our town as he'd been coughing and his work have a very strong test if any possibility of infection policy.

He had the test at half ten, was home a few minutes after that to isolate until the results, which he got this morning at 7:30, negative thankfully. So is back at work now.

To be honest, his cough was partially my fault as I'd made him laugh when having breakfast and he'd inhaled his coffee, leading to a mega coughing fit that must have irritated his throat.

Thankfully it won't go down as sickness as he was sent home, and I have to say I was impressed with how smoothly the whole process worked. Neither of us thought he'd be positive as he takes regular LFTs and had no symptoms, but of course, they have to err on the side of caution due to working with so many people.

While all that was going on with him I was meeting Kayleigh and Bodhi at Costa for a coffee and a catch-up. So I got cute baby cuddles and a coconut latte while putting the world to rights, and of course, talking about Mr Tumnus.

We did our usual shopping at Company on Sunday. They'd had a delivery of leftover M&S groceries, including the posh chocolates I bought for Pauline for £20 which Company were selling for £2:50. We bought some, you know, just to make sure we hadn't given Pauline something terrible.

But, we also needed jam and Company didn't have any, but what they did have was M&S trifle spread. Also, James got himself a M&S haggis en croute. Now I never tried either but from his reactions, there's a reason certain products end up unsold and sent to discount shops *g*

Today I've been blown to the post office and back and am now trying to encourage myself to go wrestle the double mattress and bed base downstairs as the bulk waste people are coming tomorrow and as that can be any time from 7am, I really need everything down by tonight.

Oh, excellent, that does sound like a very well set up COVID response! And I'm glad that it didn't count as sickness against him, that would have felt very unfair (never mind counterproductive if the idea is to minimize infection spread-!)

Trifle spread? Oooh, that sounds very tasty 👀 enjoy!

That sounds efficient indeed! I'm glad to hear they're set up to handle it so well, and even gladder to hear that his test was negative.

Yay for auntie & baby cuddles also! And that's very conscientious of you to do that chocolate quality control.

Important. Practically a public service and completely justified.

M&S haggis en croute

I... what? I like haggis, but that just doesn't compute in my head as a food concept. I don't understand. Why?

Hope you managed to get the bed suitably wrangled!

Got to admit, it sounds pretty vile. I mean, kudos to him for taking one for the team, and finding out for us all.

Ack, that's far too early. Hurrah for getting it cleared though - you now have space to fill with other stuff!

I am plainly a very trivial person because my takeaway from this post was—M & S trifle spread??? This sounds unbelievably good, so I find it hard to believe it can be as good as it sounds. Trifle spread!!!! !

Haggis en croute... I can see that. But apparently, not good after all. I mean, any sensible company would expect the neeps and tatties to be served separately!

M&S trifle spread. Seek!

Bad Terri making James cough so hard! It's good to hear his work has such a smoothly working process for handling potential covid outbreaks.

We bought some, you know, just to make sure we hadn't given Pauline something terrible.

Oh yes, very important you know that ;-P

Trifle spread sounds like something made entirely of artificial flavouring and colours. Am I wrong? And haggis en croute sounds like a crime against nature!

I hope the matress and bed base wranling went well!

So very glad James' test was negative! Lee and I have so far managed to not catch it. Thankfully. My work is so laid back - unless you're REALLY sick, they don't make you get tested. It's frustrating, to be honest. I wish they were a little more firm with it.

Awww, that really is a shame! I discovered the other day that I like rose petal preserve less than I remember, but luckily Mo likes it so it won't go to waste. *g* The weird chocolate-honey-plum jam spread I got at the Polish shop the other week purely on a whim, on the other hand, turned out to be much tastier than I was expecting, and is already long gone!

Company can be so brilliant, but BOY do some of the products plumb the depths of bad ideas! (I bloody love haggis - particularly battered and fried like a sausage from a chippie - but en croute sounds unutterably repulsive)

The covid response sounds reassuringly robust (as you'd hope and expect, given what he does, and how important it is that it can continue), but I'm glad he's fine!

Yay for getting to see Bodhi (and Kayleigh *g*)!

I'm glad James tested negative and it was all done so efficiently. (How dare you make him laugh, though!)

just to make sure we hadn't given Pauline something terrible.

Well, obviously!
