turpsFor the first time since before lockdown I've been swimming today, and it was glorious.
Yeah, I had anxiety that my swimming costume wouldn't fit anymore-- it did. And that I wouldn't be able to climb out via the ladders -- that was fine too. But still went and was reminded just how much I enjoy being in the water.
I suspect my arms will be yelling at me tomorrow though because I got a lot of lengths in. Plus, as a bonus, I realised my Fitbit is waterproof so it counted them all.
Add in some time in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and it was a very lovely way to spend the morning.
We're going to book a slot at a different pool, this one run by the local authority in the next couple of days and consider which if any, membership to sign up for again.
For the one today. It'll cost £35 a month for us both ( I get in free as a carer ) for unlimited swimming at any time. No need to book. As it's in a hotel the pool is smaller but also less busy apart from a few times that are easy to avoid. The disabled changing room is fantastic, though as it's poolside apparently people have got into the habit of using the shower in there instead of walking to the main changing room showers after leaving the sauna or steam room to get back in the pool. Plus, the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi are all poolside so very easily accessible.
Cons, the only way I can get there is via car so that will be limiting.
The local authority one will work out at £15 concession each for us both. It also has a fantastic disabled changing room and the pool is much bigger. Signing up for this gives access to all the other gyms and pools in the county and most importantly, as I would have my own card I could go on my own to the gym which is within walking distance of my house. Sadly the gym with a pool is in the next town, but still easy to get to by bus if I felt inclined to do so.
Cons, the pool is much busier and will be even more so in a few weeks when the summer school holidays start. Slots need to be booked and only last an hour, so no spontaneous going for a swim. They only have a sauna which is on the other side of the changing village, which is a shortish walk for most, but hard for James when he's walking on his knees.
Ideally, we'd have both but as that's not going to happen, so more thinking will happen after the visit to the local authority place. I mean, maybe things have changed there since last time and the decision will be made for us.
After swimming, we drove to the coast and had lunch at the Stack and then went to visit Kayleigh and Bodhi for a few hours. So in all, it's been a good day so far.
Now though, time to make tea and then give the plants a good drink. The poor things have wilted big time in the time I was gone.
