Sep. 4th, 2022 02:55 pmI've read back as far as far as DW would let me, but if I've missed something important please link.
All the trailers for the autumn shows have started to appear. Bake Off, Strictly, All Creatures Great and Small so far and bring them on. Last night it was the start of The Masked Dancer and I enjoyed it lots. Though as always I didn't come close to guessing who Astronaut was. I never do guess, I'm bad enough guessing masked singers never mind dancers, but I still love the routines and the costumes and the surrealness of it all.
I also read
wenchpixie and
dapatty pod_together fic and it was so good, the kind of bandom story I cherish which MCR just being them. I fully recommend it Gerardboard.
More small steps forward have been taken. Yesterday we headed to Company Shop as the freeze-dried treats our cats love were on special for 6 packets for £1. Due to having a membership card each, and each card allowed two shops we came home with 28 packets which will last them a while. I also came home with a big paper carrier bag full of cherry tomatoes. This is despite having a glut of my own tomatoes I've grown, but I couldn't pass by the price of 75p a bag. So I made a huge pan full of tomato sauce and added garlic, shallots, mushrooms and courgettes. I have to admit it's very tasty and now it's fully cool I'll decant it into bags and freeze.
After that shop James lay on the couch and slept for 7 hours. This was after he was feeling good on the morning and had told me if it wasn't for some practical reasons he felt well enough to go back to work, and yeah, not so much yet and a big sign he's heading for the feeling a bit better so will be tempted to do too much stage.
Today we drove to the beach and had a short walk. Now I'm here doing this and James is asleep on the couch again. Hopefully not for 7 hours this time.
ETA: I forgot to say, James got a phone call yesterday. It was his back surgeon apologising for phoning a little early for their phone appointment. The problem was, we had no idea he actually had one as no letter had arrived. It wasn't an issue this time as he was in the house and able to talk, and it was just a follow up so nothing that important. But I do worry that between the two recent Royal Mail strikes and remaining Covid-related staff shortages, we're missing other stuff too.

Date: 2022-09-04 03:00 pm (UTC)It's amazing how many cherry tomatoes you can fit into a paper carrier bag. I may have got a bit carried away!

Date: 2022-09-05 04:50 am (UTC)I hope James can get all the rest he needs and truly build his strength back up. And wow, that is good that he happened to be home for the surgeon's call! That sounds troubling to have the mail so backed up.

Date: 2022-09-05 07:19 am (UTC)I hope your friend is doing okay with their stent. I haven't had kidney stones but James has, and I know they're no joke.
Oh, I'll be posting photos. I mean, I've talked about the thing enough, I need to finish on a visual note *g*

Date: 2022-09-05 07:22 am (UTC)The fact James was in the house and easily able to take the call was a stroke of luck. Thankfully it was a short call that came down to, they'll follow up in another three months but it could have so easily been much more important.

I hope he doesn't get too out of hand! o_O *g*
It's a good think you were there to get the phone call.

Date: 2022-09-06 07:07 pm (UTC)Milo and Murphy are going to be so happy to have so much treats! It's so satisfying to make huge batches of something and put in the freezer. I always feel so virtous when I do :-)
It's so easy to overdo it when you're starting to feel better but I hope he's taking care to not do too much at set himself back!
That's so good that James was home and could take the phone call despite not having gotten the letter. It must be so frustrating to have the mail be so unreliable!

Date: 2022-09-10 06:26 pm (UTC)Thank you lovely ♥
Did your company have the catering bags of shallots, too? We had remarkable quantities of iceberg lettuce.
It must be quite frustrating for James, feeling better but not better ENOUGH, thank goodness he was about for his appointment, I do wish they could do that kind of thing in email as well as letter.
Telly is all coming back, hurrah!

They did! You're making me smile now remembering walking into the chop and seeing full shelves of iceberg lettuce. I mean, I eat the stuff, but not that much. I do get amused when they have an excess of products and display it all. It was chicken soup the last time I was there, almost a full aisle worth.

He does get frustrated, especially as one of the side effects of the stent is it can cause pain and bleeding on exertion. He knows he'll feel worse for just sitting in the house doing nothing, but also knows getting out and about will cause pain so it's a constant balancing act.
And yeah, I wish emails were sent too. I get texts when I have a doctor's appointment, that's something that should be used for all the services.

The mail is still messed up now. James didn't get the letter for his pre-op appointment until the day after he'd actually had it. And my MiL was telling us earlier a postcard she sent from her holiday just arrived today, six weeks later. I do support the right to strike, but it does cause so many issues.

Date: 2022-10-06 03:21 pm (UTC)Murphy loves the cat treats, he's going to be so sad when they're all gone as I've never found them anywhere else. Though saying that, he's so greedy for them that it's probably best he does get rationed.
