Sep. 9th, 2022 04:58 pmMy brother and his work partner just went an hour or so ago and my kitchen now has kickboards and trim around the units and they've started to work on the big cupboard that houses the freezer. They're going to put new trim on and a door to match the units and it'll look so smart when it's done.
The cupboard used to contain the boiler back in the day so is a big space with two deep shelves. Because it's such a big space I store a lot in there and Chris was laughing saying I was ready for the zombie apocalypse. But, with prices shooting up I do stock up on things at times. My three points are, will I use it? Will it store? Is it cheap? If all three of those are yes, you know I'll buy lots. For example, I have a load of passata as I use it lots, it has long dates and Farm Foods was selling it for 19p.
I asked Chris if mocking kitchen contents was something all his customers get, but apparently, it's a sib-only thing *g*
He also found one of my old The Sentinel zines down the side of the freezer. How the hell it got there I don't know, I was just thankful it was a gen cover because some of the Come to Your Senses series I had were a bit explicit.
The offer was too good to pass up and I signed up for Disney + earlier. I haven't really checked it out yet as I've been busy today but no doubt will do that tonight. I feel some 911 Lonestar will happen at that point.
It's also a good time due to the continuing 24/7 coverage about the Queen's death and Charles becoming King. Some of that has been interesting, especially seeing the things I'd read about in Operation London Bridge actually happen in reality. But there's only so much you can watch without needing something else.
On a different note. The Lush Advent calendar is out but as always all I can do is look and admire as it's £185 which is ridiculous. I think I will treat myself to one of the new Halloween products though, maybe the adorable Vampire bubble bar
Which reminds me. It's no secret that I love Christmas, but even I draw the line at one of the music channels switching to 24/7 Christmas music at the beginning of September. Too soon, man. Too soon!

I was inclined to be a little skeptical before I clicked the vampire bar link, but nope, you're absolutely right, it's adorable. Advent calendars are always tempting! I gave in to the temptation and ordered an Advent yarn set this year, I'm very excited to see the colors revealed.

Ahahaha, that is so true.
Such an adorable bubble bar. Oh, an advent yarn set sounds perfect for you.
I do like how you can get all the different advent calendars now. When I was a youngster all I had was a cardboard advent showing pictures behind the doors. Now there's so much choice. I usually get a Yankee candle one and it really is a lovely part of the day seeing what you get.

Date: 2022-09-10 01:09 pm (UTC)Ha! A brotherly freebie.
I'm okay with Christmas music on Dec 24-25, but prefer it ONLY on the 25th. I don't like it when a station I listen to switches to Christmas music only in November. That's too soon for me!

The local station I listen to will start playing Christmas music very late November, but not many songs, just now and then. Then will play more and more the later it gets in Dec. Then on the 25th and 26th play nothing but Christmas songs, which I think is a good way to do things. I'm sure everyone knows I love Christmas but I can't bring myself to listen to the Christmas channel before the leaves have even dropped from the trees.

I know, right!? Those shelves need to be filled with something!

Date: 2022-09-10 08:53 pm (UTC)Ha! Good news about the zine, that could have been a bit much, and well... we've not long HAD shortages of things, and it's not like importing is going particularly smoothly right now, so stocking up sensibly whilst one CAN is not a bad shout!

Exactly, and I do only stock up on things that will actually get used. So I'm happy with my choices, and will apparently also be ready for the zombies.

Date: 2022-09-11 08:31 am (UTC)I agree! I have the space, I'll use the things, they won't go out of date for ages, stocking up is a good idea.

Date: 2022-09-12 06:08 pm (UTC)That is indeed a very strange place to find a zine!
That is A LOT of money for an advent calendar! The Vampire bubble bar is so cute!
Christmas music in September?!!! That is so WRONG!!!

Date: 2022-09-13 03:54 pm (UTC)Yes he will! And he better now try and share my passata!
I'd love to know how the zine ended up down the side of the freezer. I haven't bought a zine for over ten years, and The Sentinel was one of my first big fandoms so we're talking a really long time ago. My bedroom bookshelves I would have understood, but the freezer cupboard? Nope.
It's so much money for an advent calendar and while it's great I could never bring myself to spend so much money. But the Vampire bubble bar I'm tempted by.
Christmas music in September?!!! That is so WRONG!!!
I agree so hard, and you know how much I enjoy Christmas.
