Nov. 16th, 2022 10:40 amI don't think the heavy rain stopped yesterday, what a grey, miserable, wet day.
We had to call in and see Pauline and drop off some boxes she'd ordered. When we got there James fell off the bottom garden step and went flying. Thankfully, he landed against the wheelie bins so just bashed his arm and knee, but I swear he's trying to stop my heart.
While there Pauline asked if we wanted to go out for lunch, her treat. We said sure, picked up her daughter and went to a local pub, and had one of the worst lunches I've had for a while. We should have known when we got in and we were the only people eating in the whole place and then the barman came over and said a lot of the menu items were out of stock.
I had a veggie burger and it came with a massive pile of skinny chips, but they tasted like they'd been fried in old oil and the veggie burger had obviously been deep fried too. There was a hair on one of the glasses of Pepsi Max and the desserts were cool when they were supposed to be hot. Add in bad service as the barman was hanging with the chef on the other side of the pub and well, I doubt we'll be back.
On our way back I called in the chemist to see if my new compression wraps had arrived. I never know how long they take as they have to be specially made so called in on the off chance, and when I got there was told the wraps had been there for ages as the last time I got some they'd double ordered so have had a second pair sitting there for months. And just, that makes no sense at all. The things cost hundreds of pounds which is why I can only get two pairs a year. What would they have done if my measurements or strength of compression had changed? Thankfully it didn't, but so easily could have done.

Date: 2022-11-16 10:01 pm (UTC)That makes absolutely no sense at all re: the wraps. I wonder if someone had made a mistake.

Date: 2022-11-17 06:39 am (UTC)And that's a shame about such a disappointing lunch. Definitely good to know to avoid that place going forward.
I'm boggling about the wraps! Thank goodness that set was in fact still usable.

Date: 2022-11-17 07:27 am (UTC)I suspect half the problem with the lunch was the chef was sitting with friends in the other side of the bar so half-assed the cooking. Not that excuses the old oil. I hate that taste.
The wraps situation was ridiculous. I was speechless when they said because it makes no sense at all they did that.

Date: 2022-11-17 07:29 am (UTC)The compression wrap situation makes no sense at all. They are made to measure so it's not like they could use them elsewhere. All they did was pay for something expensive that had the possibility to just sit under a bench and be unused by anyone.

Date: 2022-11-17 07:36 am (UTC)I suspect they must have double ordered the wraps by mistake and just decided to hope for the best in terms of my next set of measurments. I know in the past I've had trouble where they ordered the wrong size and I had to push to get the right ones with them saying it was costing the practice too much money to reorder. So I think someone has seen I need two, obviously, one for each leg. And they've ordered a double pair. Which is another lack of care situation.

That sounds like a really bad lunch indeed! You should definitely not go back!
That's so weird about your wraps!

Date: 2022-12-09 05:26 pm (UTC)And now it's freezing and back to how it should be.
I still can't believe they ordered my wraps in advance. It makes no sense and could have lost them money if my measurements had changed.
