I don't think the heavy rain stopped yesterday, what a grey, miserable, wet day.

We had to call in and see Pauline and drop off some boxes she'd ordered. When we got there James fell off the bottom garden step and went flying. Thankfully, he landed against the wheelie bins so just bashed his arm and knee, but I swear he's trying to stop my heart.

While there Pauline asked if we wanted to go out for lunch, her treat. We said sure, picked up her daughter and went to a local pub, and had one of the worst lunches I've had for a while. We should have known when we got in and we were the only people eating in the whole place and then the barman came over and said a lot of the menu items were out of stock.

I had a veggie burger and it came with a massive pile of skinny chips, but they tasted like they'd been fried in old oil and the veggie burger had obviously been deep fried too. There was a hair on one of the glasses of Pepsi Max and the desserts were cool when they were supposed to be hot. Add in bad service as the barman was hanging with the chef on the other side of the pub and well, I doubt we'll be back.

On our way back I called in the chemist to see if my new compression wraps had arrived. I never know how long they take as they have to be specially made so called in on the off chance, and when I got there was told the wraps had been there for ages as the last time I got some they'd double ordered so have had a second pair sitting there for months. And just, that makes no sense at all. The things cost hundreds of pounds which is why I can only get two pairs a year. What would they have done if my measurements or strength of compression had changed? Thankfully it didn't, but so easily could have done.

I'm sorry that the meal was a bad experience. I'm glad the compression wraps were there, but yeah, that seems odd on their part to want to pay for something ahead when they don't know if they'll be able to sell it.

What a shame about your lunch... there's just no need for that kind of thing, even if it's "just" going to do fried food, keep the oil hot and fresh and it'll be okay, and if you can't do that just don't bother at all.

That makes absolutely no sense at all re: the wraps. I wonder if someone had made a mistake.

Are you guys having trouble with staffing over there? In the US pharmacies are having a HORRIBLE time staying staffed so there's a lot of new/inexperienced people working. I could see someone new (or out of practice because they've just come back from being off for ages or retired) making an ordering mistake like that.

Oh no, poor James! I hope he won't have too many aches and pains after that fall.

And that's a shame about such a disappointing lunch. Definitely good to know to avoid that place going forward.

I'm boggling about the wraps! Thank goodness that set was in fact still usable.

I wish we got some of that heavy rain. It's still far too dry here.

Eeep! It must have been such a relief he didn't get hurt worse!

That sounds like a really bad lunch indeed! You should definitely not go back!

That's so weird about your wraps!
