I mentioned that I hoped James' back appointment would be quick the other day, well it was the quickest appointment ever. He finished work early, picked me up, we drove to the hospital, and waited for about five minutes. The surgeon came to get him and we walked to the appointment room. He asked James how his back was, James said great right now, and the reply was, brilliant. If you start to get pain again before three months pass we'll do nerve burning, if you get pain again after three months it'll be injections, and that was it, we were on our way. Literally an appointment of only a few minutes.

Thankfully, as James is now seen at the private hospital for his back issues it'll be easy to get an appointment if needed. But I'm hoping he won't need one for a long time.

Murphy was at the vets yesterday and got a clean bill of health apart from being a bit on the big size. He's 6.4 kg but I liked how the vet approached it. She said that she doesn't go on figures but how he looks and yes he has some extra padding, but that can easily be dealt with. We'd already stopped the free grazing on dry food for him a while ago so hopefully, he'll have dropped a bit by next year. Poor guy though, he was so nervous but the vet was so good with him. Making sure to give strokes and cuddles after his booster as she said she didn't want his last memory of her to be someone causing pain.

Once we'd dropped Murphy home we had to go do some grocery shopping. I don't think I said but I completely defrosted the freezer at the weekend because the times the door had been left partially open had led to a huge block of ice at the back behind the interior plastic which meant the door wouldn't shut properly. So I've been using up the food in there and had to throw some things that had been freezer burned but it meant I had a completely empty space to fill with Christmas goodies. It was nice not to have to play freezer tetris for once, but I'm sure it'll soon be full of Company bargains.

Then in the afternoon, the men came to measure the bedroom carpet. They were great and rearranged another appointment so they're coming to ours on the 23rd once all the decorating has been done. They also said they'd lift the wardrobes as long as they were completely empty and fix a bit on the stairs where the carpet has come loose. I felt a bit bad that they'd be working so close to Christmas but they said they'd be done by midday and would go off then, so fingers crossed, everything will be done and back in place by the night of the 23rd.

All my Christmas decorations are up in their sparkly awesome glory. The sparkle deer herd are looking fantastic and it now takes me about five minutes to turn off all the battery lights before bed. I've also put up some decorations that came from my MiL's old house. We didn't investigate the box last year as things were still a bit raw, and to be honest, when I opened the box this year I didn't expect much as their house had been in such a bad state. But, while the collection of plastic snow shakers was a bit ropey, there were also some lovely delicate glass tree ornaments and ceramic Santa Clauses.

I've been cashing in my survey earnings and am about to spend a chunk of them on Corey's Christmas presents. I asked him to send an Amazon list this year as people kept getting him alcohol and while he does drink, he's still got bottles left from last year. His list makes me smile, it's a mix of sweets, geeky stuff and kitchen equipment so I'll go through and pick a few things. Though, I remain amazed that board games exist that are nearly £50. But, those are the kinds of things I'd want to get for him knowing he wouldn't buy himself. So, good job, Corey.
