Fandom Snowflake Challenge #6
Jan. 12th, 2023 11:45 amIn your own space, post the results of your fandom scavenger hunt. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture or description of something that is or represents:
1. A favorite character
2. Something that makes you laugh
3. A bookshelf
4. A game or hobby you enjoy
5. Something you find comforting
6. A TV show or movie you hope more people will watch
7. A piece of clothing you love
8. A thing from an old fandom
9. A thing from a new fandom
1. A favorite character
Clint Barton/Hawkeye! Comic verse Clint shades it a little in terms of being a favourite but I love movie/tv verse Clint too.

2. Something that makes you laugh
I'm putting two here, one where I'm laughing at myself. First up, two prints I bought from York that make me laugh each time I see them. The artist had lots more and I'd love to buy more someday. The puns and style just make me smile.

As for the below. I found these scrapbooks when I was putting all my books back. I was a huge Durham Wasps fan from my early teens until they were disbanded. In the early years, I made scrapbooks from all the news stories about them, and decorated the outsides myself. The note on the back was about one of our defenders who had dared to change teams *g*

3. A bookshelf
If you're organised this may make you twitch, sorry. I'm still putting books back and getting them into order after the ceiling collapsed.

4. A game or hobby you enjoy
I'm still playing Simpsons Tapped Out and have been for about ten years now. I downloaded it when I got my first iPad and have played ever since. It's not an involved game in the slightest, but it's a habit to log on and tap away at some point each day.

5. Something you find comforting
My new heated throw. This was last night, me, the heated throw and the cats watching tv.

6. A TV show or movie you hope more people will watch
It's an old show but watch The Musketeers then go talk to me about them and tell me stories about daring deedsand Aramis. Just, pretend season 3 isn't there. It didn't really happen.

7. A piece of clothing you love
My Oodie. I have two and they're both like wearing a quilt, so cosy and warm with a huge pocket that means I can carry stuff around with me. I have this one and another with sloths on.

8. A thing from an old fandom
Having to move all my bookshelves also unearthed all my old zines. This is a small selection.

9. A thing from a new fandom
I'm cheating a little as I posted this the other day, but my winterhawk badges. Though they're not really a new fandom, just the newest as I haven't fallen into anything brand new for a while.

Date: 2023-01-12 01:40 pm (UTC)Looking at the prints make me think about being in York with James and my MiL. How sunny and busy it was as I tried to decide what prints I wanted. They're a lot of fun, and I must get them put up in actual frames asap.

Date: 2023-01-12 01:31 pm (UTC)I can't read the print on the first print. Does it say 'Lambo', as my mind suggests?
My book shelves looked much like that because I just kept piling books on it without organizing anything. Now they're mostly empty as I'm *coff* supposed to be clearing out that room for painting. o_O
Everyone enjoying the heated throw!!
I was guessing there's be a TS zine in there. *g*

Date: 2023-01-12 01:46 pm (UTC)Close, it says 'Rambo' same pun, just a different sheep variety.
The problem with my shelves atm is I just piled the books back on without putting them in series order. It shouldn't take long to do I just need to take an hour to stand and sort. But it's jobs like that that keep getting pushed back. Good luck with your painting, at least having mostly empty is a good start *g*
Looking through the zines I was reminded how explicit some of the TS covers were. You really knew what you were going to read looking at the covers.

Date: 2023-01-12 01:45 pm (UTC)Awww I love those prints!
Ohh I’ve not been on tapped out in ages. I know I had it on one point but I think space became an issue. Maybe I’ll go back to it since the pad has tons of storage
Awww throws are good! And yay kitties!
Of course the musketeers🖤 and the oodie is cute!
Oh nice the zines! And those badges are so cute

Date: 2023-01-12 01:57 pm (UTC)Yeah, I had to play Tapped Out on my phone for a while as my old iPad ran out of storage and wouldn't update. It's one bulky game in terms of space needed, though I guess that's not surprising when it's been going for so long.
I love my goodies, they're so warm and I just wish it was acceptable to wear them out and about in public, like to the shops or something.
I'd forgotten just how many zines I had until I had to shift everything. They really are a reminder of a different fannish time.

Date: 2023-01-12 06:14 pm (UTC)Oh it sucks like that, one of my main games (Pokémon masters) which was a pain. And now tapped out has finished updating!
Oh same! People need soft coziness
I’ve never had a zine, I missed out on that era though I know people are doing them now

Date: 2023-01-13 08:29 am (UTC)The scrapbooks make me laugh, they have all kinds of lists and stats in them that mean nothing now. I should recycle really, but can't seem to bring myself to do so.

Date: 2023-01-13 04:29 pm (UTC)I loved the prints as soon as I saw them. It was the style that caught my attention at first, the sheep puns just sealed the deal.
My dragon mirror is so old now, but I enjoy it so much I doubt I'll ever let it go. It weighs a ton but I carried it home from a holiday way back in the day. I regretted doing so at the time of travel, but never since.
And, thank you!

Date: 2023-01-13 04:25 pm (UTC)I do like my dragon mirror, though it weighs a ton so doesn't tend to get moved very often.

Date: 2023-01-13 04:21 pm (UTC)the comfort just radiates from that heated throw picture.
It's one of my favourite times of the day, when I get to cosy up with my heated throw, my cats and the tv.

Date: 2023-01-13 04:24 pm (UTC)I completely agree. I love how snarky they are with each other in the comics, bickering but also competent at what they were doing. It would have been lovely to see much more of that.

Date: 2023-01-13 04:19 pm (UTC)It's just typical of cats! I wouldn't care but one of the beds is actually heated so is warm to sleep on. But still they'll share with me.
Not that I care. I feel quite honoured in fact :)

Date: 2023-01-13 04:18 pm (UTC)The throw is really lovely to sit under and gets warm even without turning on the heat. So when I do turn it on I'm extra cosy.

Date: 2023-01-13 04:18 am (UTC)that heated throw does indeed look exceptionally comfortable. so fuzzy, so warm. and i remember (vaguely) when the musketeers was on altho i never watched it. i may have to look for it because the guys are quite attractive and who doesn't love a hot dude with a sword?

A very valid reason to look up the show!
And the throw is very warm and comfy. I look forward to settling down under it each night when I watch tv.

Date: 2023-01-13 08:24 pm (UTC)Cats are always comforting but I can imagine they're extra comfy when they come with a bonus heated blanket :-)
Your unicorn oodie is adorable and looks marvelously warm and cosy too!
That's so cool you still have your old zines! I used to have heaps of science fiction zines but with all the moving I've done over the years none of them have survived.

Date: 2023-01-14 08:59 am (UTC)The cats and a heated blanket make for a lot of warmth. I really do love snuggling up with them.
I'm thrilled with the oodies. They keep me warm during the day when the heating is off and are handy with having a big pocket.
My zines have been whittled down a little but I do have most of them still. It helps I've only moved once since I started to buy them, and that was a really long time ago.
