I went to see Champions at the cinema yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. I pretty much suspected the plot even before going in, and apart from one slight twist I was right. But it was entertaining with an enjoyable cast so a thumbs up from me.

I did manage to give myself and James a bath in diet Coke. It was before the film started and the lid sort of folded in on itself on the top of the giant cup and pop went everywhere. The staff were great though, I went to ask for paper towels so I could clean up but instead of allowing me to do that, they gave me a replacement drink, a very cheerful man mopped the floor and moved our seats so we weren't on the soggy ones, and said nothing about the popcorn that was everywhere as the carton had tipped over in all of the fuss.

It was an enjoyable day really, though thrown off a little with the clocks changing. We went to see the cats first thing, went grocery shopping at Company and then Aldi, as James has fallen for the Subway dupe sub rolls from there and takes them as part of his bait. From there to the cinema, left there and went to Asda as I had a parcel to send off to Music Magpie. We also arrived at the perfect time for whoopsies so scored some goodies. Though I kept well back from the fruit and veg reduced section as the poor shop assistant was being mobbed, including an obvious whoopsie pro who was standing blocking the shelves with his trolley so he could get first pick.

From there went to somewhere to pick up some wood James had bought, then went for the goodnight visit to the cats. Then home for tea and watching Lego Masters Australia before bed.

Saturday was a bit of mixed bag. James was supposed to be going out with his work teammates for a meal and then out to a few pubs, including Corey's, though James wouldn't have been drinking himself as he was driving. But, so many people dropped out that the night out was cancelled.

They're rescheduling, and also making plans for a group day out to Edinburgh. They all insist James needs to go and when he said he wouldn't be up to lots of walking at their pace, said to take his wheelchair and they'd be happy to push. Which is fair enough, even though I suspect many don't realise it's not that easy at times to push a grown adult in a wheelchair in crowded places. But now they're wanting to stay overnight, and yeah, that's not going to work for him at all.

Plus on that night, I was talking to Kayleigh and Bodhi's ranula cyst had swollen up even more and she was really struggling to eat. Kayleigh and Lucy were frantically trying to arrange earlier flights but there was nothing. I was checking too but the only flights were really expensive, like, a month's wages expensive, and were going to either Glasgow or London, so they'd need to get back to Newcastle too.

So they stayed put and have been pushing fluids and thankfully, will be on their way home tonight, arriving in the early hours of the morning. I think they're planning to drive straight to our local hospital, and I guess we'll see what happens then. I feel for them as they did everything right, including asking Bodhi's consultant if it would be safe for her to go, and he said yes.

One good thing on Saturday, James won his work end-of-month bonus ball. So, a nice bit of money to counteract a week where we got letters saying both our mortgage and energy bills were shooting up yet again.
