I had a brilliant time at Camp Sparkle and was very sad to come home late Sunday afternoon.
I'll post some of my photos later, of the beautiful locations anyway and will start a catchup now as life has been a bit busy since I got back.
Like I said we came home Sunday late afternoon, the drive home was beautiful, going through remote countryside and it was only when we hit the motorway James phoned his mam, trying to keep the holiday mood going a bit. She listened to him talk about what we'd been doing for a few minutes then asked if we'd take her to a doctor's appointment on Wednesday.
Got home and on Monday got a phone call to say Uncle George had died. He's not my actual uncle, he was nanna's youngest brother and was in his early 90s when he passed, so not so much of a shock but James got along with him great as Uncle George was also a woodworker and they'd planned wood lathing sessions together in the summer once it was warmer, then sadly both were poorly so that never happened.
Tuesday Pauline phoned and asked if we'd go pick up some tablets from the hospital for her as she'd been in A&E until 3am with a suspected blood clot. Did that and then kept her company for a bit.
Wednesday we took Pauline for a scan at the hospital to see if it was a blood clot -- it wasn't but she needs another scan next week to be totally sure -- and as that took ages ended up going for my MiL, took her to the doctors, James went back to the hospital, picked up Pauline, came back to pick up me and my MiL and Pauline asked if we could go out to eat somewhere. So we did, but as we refused petrol money insisted she would take me and James out to eat today, so we've a reservation at a local Indian restaurant for 6pm.
But yeah, I had an excellent time with some brilliant people, so YAY Camp Sparkle, always a good time.
ETA: Forgot to say, fans are the best. Friends made sure I knew Mikey had joined FOB to play Saturday and then looked up and played the footage on the living room screen despite not being in the fandom at all. They made my Sweet Little Dudes loving heart very happy ♥

Date: 2023-07-07 01:53 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry for the loss of your (great) Uncle George. At least he lived a long life. But a shame he had plans with James that won't happen now.
I'm glad you're able to help Pauline out and spend some time with her. Very kind and I'm sure is very meaningful to her.

Date: 2023-07-12 07:59 pm (UTC)Your homecoming sounds like it was a bit of a letdown. So sad to hear about Uncle George and that his and James lathing sessions now will never happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Pauline!
Fans are totally the best!
