My
fandomgiftbasket basket has been posted and is here.
I saw Barbie today and enjoyed it so much! We saw the midday show at the big IMax screen and every seat was full, so the atmosphere was lovely especially as lots of people had dressed in pink, including the cinema staff and the areas outside of the screens which had all been Barbified with strings of pink lights, sparkly pink curtains and bunting. But yeah, I won't spoil as I think it's one of those films you need to see unspoiled, but it was funny, serious at times, nostalgic and poked fun at itself often, and I liked that a lot.
There seems to be an unofficial challenge going around to see Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same day, I suspect because they're so different. One of the workers at Odeon was going to see them both after his shift had finished, the second film ending at midnight. All I can say is good luck to him. If I tried that I'd be flat out and asleep before the second one started.
I also picked up my new compression wraps today. It should have been yesterday when I was at the pharmacy but they couldn't find them anywhere. Then on the afternoon, the pharmacist phoned to say they had been found, and when I picked them up today I saw why as they'd been left in the box they'd been sent in from the company that makes them. Considering my name was only inside, no wonder they couldn't find them yesterday. So, new compression day tomorrow. It'll be nice to have some that don't pop open again because the Velcro always starts to be less sticky after a few months.

Date: 2023-07-21 07:09 pm (UTC)I'm not sure if I ever had a Barbie. I had some similar sort of doll, but I think it was a smaller, cheaper knockoff. I remember having three of them. However, unless a doll could ride my model horses, I had no use for it! The Barbie-style dolls just did the splits. I did realize that my brother's GI Joe was articulated much better, plus the hand was made to grip a steering wheel so GI Joe could not only sit on my model horses, but could hold the reins! Despite my suggestion that I get more GI Joes, that didn't happen. I got more horses and wound up tying my stuffed animal toys in the saddles... LOL. Good memories, but no Barbies.
Glad your new wraps were found and hope the fitting goes well!

Date: 2023-08-07 09:28 am (UTC)I can well believe it! The sets were very pink.
Well, you'll know that James often falls asleep at the cinema, I suspect for him it's just a 'him' thing. Of course the comfy recliners don't help *g*
I used to have Sindy dolls, which were pretty much Barbies but with a fuller figure. I did have loads of them, including the dream house and accessories. I also played with my brother's Action Men, which I think were the same as GJ Joes but with a different name.
You're right though, the gripping hands of those were a plus.
It's funny what sticks in your mind so many years later.
