These last few days I've been talking to a few people about feedback, both in email and comments, but each person mentioned the same thing, which was, feedback is decreasing in the popslash fandom.

So, I wondered what other people thought of that.

From my own experiences I have to agree. I've worked hard on stories, only to post them and get a handful of comments. Not that I'm about to flounce off or anything, because I always do get comments, and the ones I do get are wonderful. But sometimes, I look at other places, like bandslash, which has been sucking me in steadily for a while now, and wonder what it must be like to post something and get pages of comments in return.

I have to say here, this isn't me fishing for comments. I'm just worried that stories will stop being produced due to apathy by the readers. I've always said that popslash has amazing writers, and I stand by that. I'd hate those writers to walk away because they get nothing back in return.

I know popslash is different to many others due to the many pairings. Lots of people won't read some pairings, and I get that. I also get that lives are busy, and sometimes you just can't feedback. I mean, I always try to leave a comment when I read something I enjoy. But there's been times when life happens, and I don't get around to that.

But what it comes down to is, it takes seconds to write, I enjoyed that, after you've read a story you did like.

So, an open ended question. What's your policy on leaving feedback?

It's very windy here today. Outside of my garden there's a tree. Its leaves are golden brown at the moment, and with each gust of wind, hundreds of leaves blow off the tree, streaming through the air to hit the window next to my desk. It's like watching a leaf blizzard, and it's very cool. I feel like one of the cats, distracted by the leaves that whirl around outside.

I tried to take some pictures, and as I'm lazy you can see them here and here

Other than that. There's something funky going on with my right thumb. It doesn't hurt, but sometimes feels stiff and weak. Then a moment or so later it's fine again. Stupid thing.

I've been reading the JuC swap stories this weekend, and I wanted to share some that I've enjoyed.

I think sometimes people don't read stories because they see the pairing, and that turns them off, but pairings are only one part of good stories, so, give them a try.

I'm Invincible. So Are You by [livejournal.com profile] phaballa. This story, I adored it so much. It made me cry, but in a good way. Because whenever another fandom tempts me, I read something like this, and know I'm going nowhere. It's a JuC story, but also a group story, and it's amazing. Nsync means love. It's that simple.

And I Work at My Job by [livejournal.com profile] withdiamonds This is funny, and touching and again, features the group, plus bonus Britney. Donna always writes everyone in Nsync well, which she does here, ending with a story I really enjoyed.

The Spirit Catches You by [livejournal.com profile] silveryscrape This story won't suit everyone. It's like a kick in the gut, but it's written wonderfully, and in my mind is totally threemanbus. If you like stories that make you think, and re read and marvel that someone can write something so affecting in such a sparse manner. Well, this is the story for you.

Whitewater by [livejournal.com profile] topaz119 This is a gorgeous AU set at a river rafting centre. Missy always writes such beautiful stories, and this is no exception. The whole group is in there, all with wonderful parts to play. This is one universe I'd love to see more of.
