Feb. 9th, 2015 12:45 pmI really didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It didn't help that somehow I'd managed to mix up James' shifts so until yesterday thought he was off today. Sadly he wasn't so we had to get up at horrible o clock.
But, it's turned into a nice sunny day, so that's good. Plus, I had a nice relaxing weekend. James was at a scout camp Saturday, one where they had to stay awake for 24 hours, so when he got home at dinnertime yesterday he crashed on the couch and slept most of the afternoon away. Meanwhile I'd been reading and deleting -- I only have 38k of emails now, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel -- and catching up on a few things.
More good news. For the last few months James has been getting grief from a manager at his work about his sickness. With having his op last year and various other things he'd been put on a warning, which is something they weren't actually allowed to do if any of those sick periods had to do with his disability. As the vast majority did he should have never got that formal warning, so the union ended up getting involved, and on Friday the warning was withdrawn with no further action. Which was a big relief.
Recently I've been reading The Captive Prince. The series has been recced to me before, but I'd never got around to actually reading. Then I was emailing with
themoononastick and she pretty much said, read it, it's made for you. And yeah, she was right. I'm nearly at the end of book two now and know there's a big cliffhanger coming, but I don't know what, so no spoilers. But man, I'm going to miss that universe when I'm done.
no_tags is happening and I need to put in my prompts. Due to the above I was tempted to prompt for pleasure slaves, but thought that was a bit mean for a flash fic challenge. Even so, it would have been wonderful.
I've done the laundry, a chicken curry is cooking in the slow cooker as I speak and it remains sunny. I may go for a wander around the estate and visit mam. Last time I did that I came home and found Dad in my back garden using a spade to chip at the remaining bricks of the old shed. Luckily it was bin day so the back gate was unlocked, so he'd just come in, put down his shopping bags and started tidying up. Then I got to stand in the mizzly rain with him for ages as he used a hammer to get the bricks to where he thought they should go. Which admittedly, was bit cold staying outside that long, but I do like spending time with him.
Before I go though, I'm going to go pay for my LJ account. I miss friendsfriends and five icons only is for the birds.
