turps: (bite me)
The getting money in one hand and it going out of the other trend continues.

We've been putting some stuff up for sale and sold one of our huge Odeon foyer posters -- seriously, the things are big, much bigger than our super king size bed when taking photos. Then two nights ago someone broke into our car. They smashed the passenger side window, rooted around, and took nothing but a half packet of paracetamol. The same night another car in the square was broken into and an empty bag taken and another car had its wing mirrors smashed off.

I have to admit I was a bit down for a bit because it seems every time we get ahead somehow we end up going back a step. But, thinking of positives. Yes, it's an excess to pay, but at least we have comprehensive insurance and the window will be fixed by tomorrow. Some people are scum, but we also have lovely neighbours, one coming around first thing to tell us what had happened and another going out and sweeping up all the glass for us.

I have an appointment at the dentist on Thursday, not as fast as I hoped but we are in the middle of another lockdown and I'm lucky they still are doing emergency appointments. Thankfully I'm not in any pain, so waiting isn't that big of an issue.

The lymphoedema appointment went well and I now have a shiny new wrap. It's a bit like wrestling on a sticky centipede in the mornings and I've found I've had to put on an old compression stocking on top when doing any decent amount of walking, otherwise the wrap slips, but the compression is good and I think it will make a difference. I need to phone my nurse on Monday and say how I'm getting on, and if I like it will get a wrap for the other leg too. He did say I could have a wrap for my knees and thighs if I wanted, but while I'm sure they will have excess fluid it'll be tiny compared to my lower legs and is not really visible, so will pass on those.

I've started cashing in my earnings for my surveys and micro-tasks so have gift vouchers to spend, so once the car has an actual window and not a plastic sheet that's exactly what I'll be doing.

To end on some more positive news. A while back we invited my MiL and FiL to come here on Christmas day and stay to Boxing day. My MiLs reaction was 'we'll see' which experience shows is the parental version of 'not going to happen'. But, my Sil told me a few days ago my MiL has been trying to walk a bit so she can build her strength up so she could come to ours. Considering she's barely moved from her recliner for months now, that was amazing to hear. Now all I can do is hope she keeps trying and the lockdown doesn't get extended.
