Apr. 29th, 2022 06:10 pmMeeting up with the in-laws went okay yesterday. We first met at the cafe near where my Mil and FiL used to live, had a coffee with all my in-laws minus the kids and plus some of my MiL's friends, and left the plaque in memory of my FiL in the cafe garden. Then had a drive with my MiL for a few hours before meeting up with the others again, plus my youngest niece and nephew for something to eat. I can't say it was a stand out meal, we went to a kid-friendly place, though once we got there the soft play end was shut so they weren't happy, but my MiL paid so I've nothing to complain about really.
My SiL did ask if my MiL could come here for a few days at the end of May, at which point I decided to just write May off between my hospice appointments, hopefully, James' hospital appointment, Murphy going in for an op on his teeth at the beginning of May and now this. Roll on June I say.
Today it's been a lovely day, sunny and warm so as we had tickets for the new Downton film on the afternoon, decided to have a walk around Durham first. Though the peace was spoilt a bit because the religious zealots were out in the market square. They were loud, waving around banners and I could have ignored that but they were going up to people just sitting trying to enjoy the sunshine and trying to talk about hell and damnation and having room for Jesus in your hearts. Thankfully they must have got hungry as the last I saw of them was their signs propped up outside Greggs as they went inside.
But at that point, it was time for Downton! For those that don't know, I binge-watched the whole of the show during the first lockdown. I had seen the first film before that, but only because we go to the cinema so much. So I didn't watch it knowing and loving the characters. This time I did, and oh, I enjoyed the film so much.
( Cut for spoilers. I mean it, big spoilers )
