Oct. 20th, 2023 02:08 pmStorm Babet hit last night and is due to stay around until the weekend, getting worse over this afternoon. As of now, we've no issues from the wind, but the downstairs toilet roof is leaking. Looking at where the water is coming from, it's seeping from where the wasp nest was removed a few years ago. At the moment it isn't a bad leak, so with the aid of a bowl and the location, meaning the floor is easy to mop up splashes, it's the best location for a leak really, even if it is annoying to be dripped on if you're using that toilet.
Initially our plans were to go to the cinema this afternoon and keep out of the wet, but seeing how bad it is now and knowing it's forecast to get worse we decided to go out and do a job that needed doing then come home. As for that job, yesterday was another long one.
I had a doctor appointment yesterday, and James one with the same doctor straight after ( cut for medial stuff )
Left the doctors and headed for Company as they were advertising cheap candle advent calenders, which is something I get every year. Got one of those, and lots of other stuff too. But really, 6 tasty Bol soups for £1:20, I wasn't going to leave those behind.
From there we picked up my SiL who was going for her own hospital appointment, dropped her off and had a coffee at Tim Hortons while waiting. Picked her up again and went for a mooch around a big charity furniture shop as my SiL needs a new display unit. She didn't find one, but we did find a perfect space saver table and two chairs that would look great in our kitchen. Which we bought and needed to pick up today, therefore, needing to go out.
From there my SiL bought us lunch in Costa then we dropped her off at my nephew's school and then drove to Kayleigh's as she had a doctor appointment and had asked if we could watch Bodhi for an hour or so.
So, I watched many Bear Hunt videos again, played with unicorn and lion while James napped on the couch.
Kayleigh has bronchitis, so it's good she did get an appointment, but it did mean it was past 6pm again when I got home.
We picked the table and chairs up this morning, along with a TV my SiL wanted for my nephew in his new home. Let me say, getting a table and two chairs, plus a big TV, plus having some shopping left from yesterday and having to leave one of the back seats up as my SiL needed to deliver the tv to the assessment home made for some rearranging. Furniture Tetris in a gale and heavy rain, fun for all.
Now I'm home, back in my Oodie and intend to reply to comments and watch some downloads as I have new Our Flag Means Death, Surreal Estate and Hudson and Rex to watch. I'm also watching Crazy Fun Park which I recorded on BBC3. I recommend it, even though it is a bit creepy, especially if you start watching alone at night.
