Had a writing spurt today, 7 pages of The End Chapter 2. Bit worried about something though, so Mouse has it in her hands just now so she can send me some advice. Poor Blair's been totally pushed to the background in this chapter, Jim's taking over -- pushy thing.

I should have it done in a couple of days, then off to the betas it goes. I really need to start writing a plan down with all the characters, I've been giving details to the OC's and I'm going to get mixed up soon if I'm not careful.

I've also been checking out the Vic screen grabs that Jim sent. ( so many Jims!) and getting distracted a lot. There's just something about a man in a leather g string that does it for me. Jim suggested that he's going to send a challenge to the MX list based on the pics. I hope so, it might make my MX muse come home.

Thanks!

I've actually done the end and the beginning, just need to join them in the middle. I'm still planning on finishing the first draft tonight, if Blair will play along. *kicks him*

I should do something productive really, instead of just staring at Blue2 *g*

The End

Hi Terri :-)

read "The end" a few days ago but couldn't respond earlier (new browser is acting up on me or me on it - depents on the viewpoint *g*).

I really liked the set-up and I'm eager to see where it will lead in the future, but there is one thing that bothered me and I can't resist to comment on this.

Despite the fact that I really enjoyed this first chapter (especially the scenes where Blair and the girl are buried under the ruins at Rainier) I wondered about Jim's reaction.

I read about how he and Joel started to look for survivers on their own and I immediately went "eh?"

Well, I can understand that Jim isn't the type to abandon his duties to run and look for Blair, but I would have estimated that Jim at leat would have reported in at the precinct of the CPD. There has to be a procedure for that and Jim couldn't have known whether or not someone would be still alive at the CPD. He couldn't have known whether or not he would have been needed at the CPD, maybe for joining in on search and rescue parties, maybe to give his knowledge about what happened in the part of the town he stayed when the catastrophe hit. He didn't even try to phone in. At least I don't remember having read about this.

Just kick me if I forgot something. *g*

See, when I was working for the government, we were ordered to report in when something *bad* happened. Catastrophe procedure was written down and we were very strictly ordered to follow it, and I wasn't even with a very important department (just a communication departement).

Part of this catastrophe procedure was, to report in when something happened (natural desaster, war, whatever), give the informations we would have and made ourselves available for anything we may be needed for. We were strictly ordered to not start things on our own because it could mess with the official coordination, because we would be needed to do things they wouldn't have other people for and because our view of things/informations would be needed too.

So I instantly expected Jim to report in, went to the CPD or at least try to contact them in any way, to give his informations and receive orders how to proceed or make himself available for any task. I really was surprised when I noticed that he didn't try any of this (or I did miss it - in this case, shame over me *g*)

Well, he could have failed with his efforts to contact the PD or could have get the information that there *isn't* a PD anymore and then continue like he continued in your story. It just surprised me that there wasn't anything that pointed in this direction.

Just my thoughts.

Greetings

Pat

Thanks for your comments Pat. I'm glad that you liked the set up, despite the detail that threw your from the story.

To be honest I never even thought about Jim trying to contact the PD by his cell phone. He was using it to try and reach Blair when the Deli collapsed on him and Joel. I assumed that it would be smashed somewhere.

But you're right. Joel would have a phone too, and they should have at least tried to get in contact with the PD. I knew nothing about the procedures for disasters, but I guess I should have found out. It just didn't occur to me.

Thanks for explaining about it, and no, you missed nothing, just my ignorance showing ;)

Hey, it didn't exactly throw me from the story. *g* It was more like a questionmark popped up over my head but I still read along without having my fun spoiled, so don't worry too much about that. *g*

I guess that, aside from me, nobody who isn't involved with catastrophe procedure would even notice it, let along give it a second thought.

But I'm really eager to see more of this particular AU. :-)

I'm glad! But it was an important point, one I've used in Chapter 2 for one of the other characters. I'll have to credit you for info *g*

But I'm really eager to see more of this particular AU. :-)

I''m glad you like it! Next part is nearly done, so should be posted soonish.
