Because I'm lame, I went to bed the same time as Corey last night. 10 hours of sleep was just what I needed, because yesterday was a long day. James was convinced there was something wrong with his hand, so had made an appointment at the fracture clinic, which meant much waiting yet again. Only to be told it's fine. Not that he let me go into the room with him, mostly because I threatened to tell his doctor that despite what he says, he hasn't been taking his tablets regulary at all. Though that long sleep did include a most wonderful dream where I was watching Victor Webster in the bath. Which was very much of the good.

Tomorrow I go to [livejournal.com profile] connotations. Corey also goes to Scout camp for the weekend so I must pack at some time tonight. Because I'm taking him to camp I won't get to the con until late tomorrow, and will miss Sunday all together with going down south to the Christening, but still. I have a full day and night.

Now, the meme that won't die. [livejournal.com profile] msktrnanny asked for 5 songs that will emerge when Lou Pearlman puts Nsync's unfinished album from lawsuit days up for auction to pay off his large gambling debts All I can say is,

If you thought boybands were a thing of the past, think again. In an unexpected twist a new Nsync album is about to be unleashed, a full 10 years after their last new material. Released by Lou Pearlman, the album Cash Cows, a collection of previously unheard songs, has been produced without input from any members of the group.

When asked about his right to release this album, Pearlman states. "The law is on my side. These songs belong to me, and I have the signatures to prove it."

That may be so, but insiders have informed us that papers have already been served, and the members of Nsync (Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and Justin Timberlake ) are opposing this release and suing their former label, and specifically Pearlman, once more.

Legal matters aside, Cash Cows will be on the shelves soon. The blurb states "A reminder of past glories, a time when things were simple and the music great. Which may be so, but it it doesn't show here. The songs are rejects, and it shows.

On first listen Surfing the Crimson is a song about simple pleasures, but listen closer and it’s obvious that the writer, Chasez, has an unhealthy interest in menstrual blood. Lines such as Surf’s up baby, lick you clean, leaves my lips with a rosy sheen would best be left unsaid. Sadly, that’s not the case.

Pine For You is a typical boyband ballad. Timberlake, little more than a child at the time, laments for forbidden love, and by the end you’ll be hoping he goes to find it, and doesn’t
come back. Psychotic and stalkerish lyrics such as I watch you each day, see you laugh with abandon. My heart is a flutter, you’ve made me happy, give this song a creepy feel as Timberlake cries after his unnamed, green-eyed love.

Opposites is an experimental track. Kirkpatrick and Bass duelling with sound, repeated words, want you, need you dipping and climbing over a background of three differing constant moans. This track may have some limitd success: it's sure to find a niche market as background for porn.

Fatone has a rare solo writing credit on Faces in the Sky. Incorporating his love of recording, he gives a tongue-in-cheek account of a day in the life of the group.Breakfast in a strange room, blankets on the floor. Dance sing, it’s all we ever do. Bites on Chris’ neck, scratches on JC’s back. Lance in a bathroom, Justin at his side, wipes away straying tears, telling him one day you won’t hide. While fascinating in the details, it’s obvious this song was never intended for commercial use. The last, unscripted, words prove this. Kirkpatrick telling Chasez it’s time to go home, Fatone laughing at Timberlake’s joke. These are stolen moments, that were never meant to be publicly heard.

Anyone who knows Nsync knows that they love their moms. Frankly, My Angel takes that theme to a cloying level. The idea is cute, five young men calling their moms on the phone, the realisation is a teeth itching irritant. Timberlake, especially, gives too much emphasis to his You’re there for me in every way. I love you, inside and out..

It’s predicted that this album will be a success. But does it deserve that success? The group doesn’t want it released, and surely their opinion should count?

If you want a high energy well produced Nsync album, buy from their back catalogue, give this mess of an album a miss.
