The scouts are holding a BBQ soon, and Corey brought home the flyer about it last night. The below is copied exactly from that flyer.

Come along and enjoy our family BBQ and have a go on our traditional fun fair stalls "Hook & Duck, Space Hopper's, Coconut Shi, The Stocks, Football Shoot Out, Air Riffles and Archery"

Food served from 3pm till 5pm and includes 3 pieces of meet, Bread Bun, Salad, and Beans.
Bring your own Liquid refreshment.

That was written by the regional head of the Scout division. All I can think is, way to show an example to your scouts.

Isn't it?

The guy that wrote that should be ashamed.

There's no excuse at all.

So many mistakes in such a small amount of text. It's just, so wrong.

It doesn't look like it.

It's just so annoying. A child knows how to spell check.

Hee! Pedants untie!

3 pieces of meet I *love* it.

We've been very tempted to send back the instructions for putting Bean's cot together with corrections and ACTUAL STEPS THAT WORK.

I thought you were going to bed? ;)

I'm sure an elite group exists that drafts those incomprehensible instructions. I picture then cackling as they imagine all the despair and bickering they cause around the world.

Ouch. That reminds me of painful surfing of the German ebay website. If it's not, like, an application or a formal business letter, nobody seems to care about correct spelling and grammar anymore.

Sadly that's true.

I often see signs in shop saying things like shoe's for sale and it's just. How can people be so stupid?

I see those things, too, which is even more wrong, since there is no 's in German. Which doesn't keep people from using it for the genitive anyway (the correct form would be just adding an s to the word without the apostrophe), or sometimes for the plural. Honestly, it's everywhere, and it's driving me mad.

However, Scout food kicks major ass!

It's just so bad. I cringe thinking how many people have seen that flyer.

Scout food does kick ass! I'm looking forward to the actual BBQ.

O.o Talk about idiosyncratic capitalisation! (And now I really want to know what an Air Riffle is :-)

I know! It's totally random and makes no sense at all.

I'm tempted to approach him at the BBQ and ask what an Air Riffle is. Then follow that by asking where the hell his brain is!

Okay, the spelling and grammar is awful, but more importantly: Hook & Duck? That doesn't even make sense! I mean, yes, there is a hook involved and a duck involved, but it's OBVIOUSLY hook A duck. Because that's what you DO.

Yours sincerely,

Outraged of Yorkshire.

I know!

It's just, so wrong! And they were giving more of the damn things out tonight and I had to sit and watch people read and snigger.

That man should be ashamed!
