Jun. 20th, 2007 09:44 amThe second challenge at
pop_appreciate is to express your love for Nsync/ BSB, so I'll ramble a bit.
I've always been a Backstreet fan. I remember when they first formed and I quickly grew to love their music and thought Kevin was the hottest thing ever. I still love their music and I still think Kevin is damn hot, that will never change. What did change was my number one boyband.
Nsync were never big over here, and I'd never paid them much attention at all until one day I was desperate for more stories to read, and clicked on my first ever crossover. It was a Chris/Nick and at that point my fate was sealed.
I'm sure you all know that period where you fall for something and fall hard. I went from having to look up pictures to know who these guys were to having thousands of pictures, stories and footage stored on my computer. It started with Chris. My interest in him was sudden and overwhelming, I thought he was amazing, hot, just everything and all these years later I still do. .
In fact the whole group delights me in so many ways. Looking at footage, you can tell they really liked one another, and no one will convince me that they don't still do so now. They have an obvious bond, and I love that. I love that they tease and joke and just be there for each other. Justin delaying his show to watch Joey on DWTS. Watching each others shows, the canon is amazing and perfect. Chris and JC's families doing Thanksgiving together, Lance being Bri's godfather. There's so much like that and it's wonderful to find out that those things you read in fic actually happened.
They have the best stage shows. Silver Space Bulls with Red Eyes! Space hoppers! Attaching themselves to walls! Flying over the audience. Monks, outsized hats, strange velvet outfits. Flips and dancing in sync, hand gestures so you know they're feeling the songs. Then there's the other moments we all know and love. The finger quotes "", the pixi stix, the interview they gave so obviously drunk. The anti drugs, Deerfield and messages to the troops.
They're dorks who on one hand don't take things seriously at all, and on the other are the ultimate professionals. Five guys with amazing voices, and when you put them together you get something special.
I love them. A lot ""

Date: 2007-06-20 09:28 am (UTC)But can you clarify what the following moments are to this nsync n00b? The finger quotes "", the interview they gave so obviously drunk, and Deerfield (I got the rest of them)

Date: 2007-06-20 09:52 am (UTC)The finger quotes are when they make quotes in the air for emphasis. If I remember rightly we saw them doing it in Making the Tour and I think Making of Pop.
Deerfield is a sketch they did for Saturday Night Live, they're supposedly at some all boys prep boarding school and are in full school uniform...yum. And they were drunk in a Spring Break interview for MTV. I'll upload them for you if you like :)

If you go here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_futML6le2I) and go to about 5 mins 30, you'll see Chris do the finger quotes.

Date: 2007-06-20 10:06 am (UTC)The obviously drunk interview...... Terr, correct me if I'm wrong here,.. but they're state of soberness or lack there of is speculation on the part of fans and not proven fact. They're all very loose and sort of devil may care about the whole show. I did have the son of an MTV exec tell me once that MTV wouldn't tape guests under the influence. [live was/is another story] but I have no idea about the validity of that.
Deerfield is from the episode of SNL the song clip Terri posted is from. Believe it or not, I've never seen it either! lol. And, I'll butt out now. :-)

Date: 2007-06-20 10:20 am (UTC)I think you're right, I doubt they'd have been allowed to film actually drunk, but it certainly looks like they are. In a very happy casual way though. It's one of my favourite pieces of footage of theirs because of how laid back they are.
You haven't seen Deerfield? If so I'm about to post it, when it finishes uploading already *g*
And man, no need to butt out at all.
