Feb. 26th, 2008 08:05 pmThere's been a weather warning here today, and sure enough our gate has just blown off, and it looks likely the fence will follow. Not a small fence either, but our 6 foot back garden fence. It means Tex can't go outside on his own and anyone can just walk into our garden. Not that there's anything worth stealing, not unless they want to take the swing.
The main problem is going to be the cost to get it fixed, as the insurance doesn't cover weather. Hopefully it won't be that much for the posts etc as my brother will do the actual work.
Earlier I was listening to the news and it seems Sean Johnson is having a testimonial match. Now, no one will know Sean, but he used to play for the Durham Wasps, my hockey team. The one that was cruelly uprooted, renamed and transplanted to Newcastle. The Wasps were such a huge part of my life when I was a teen, which meant Sean was a huge part of my life. He's a local lad, and him and his two brothers all played for us.
Some other old Wasps players are also taking part, Mike Blaisedell, Ivor Bennet, and some old Whitley Warriors, our hated derby team. Thing is, I vowed never to set foot in that Wasps stealing arena, and I never have. I miss hockey so much sometimes, the chill in the air, the old wooden benches, the sheer danger of watching a hockey game at a rink that didn't have plexi glass or nets at the side. Yes, I was hit by the puck a few times, yes, it hurt. I haven't seen a game live in years, I can't afford to see a game even if I wanted to, and know if I did see a game that itch would return. The game is also on Thursday night, the day before I go away.
But man, I want to go so bad.
