I changed my journal header and colour today, and it's so blue. I keep looking at it and feeling cold.
The stair lift dude was here earlier and the thing is bust. The track hasn't come down at the bottom automatically for ages now. When he checked it out he said it was beyond repair, so we're getting a new stair lift installed. Hopefully they won't notice the cats like using the back of the seat as a scratching post.
Tell me flist. If you could have a story custom written for you, what would it contain? Not that I'm offering or anything, I'm just curious what people's ideal stories would be. Any fandom goes.

Story for me....well, I'm sure you know who would be in it, the story would be long (gloriously long), there can be some issues as long as it ends happy, and it would be smartly written with humor included!
no subject
Date: 2008-04-02 05:40 pm (UTC)Which okay, I do anyway.
I have no idea how long it'll take to get a new stair lift. Hopefully not long, or if it is. James is off. I hate being alone when people are working in the house. I'm a wuss.
I do know who you'd pick :)
That kind of story sounds like something I'd read too. I love stories with humour, and issues are great too. You have good taste.

Date: 2008-04-02 06:16 pm (UTC)I'm in the minority when it comes to fanfics, I like het and JC stuff. lol There was this one story I just *loved*, it was called "At All Costs". It was very well-written and the female in the story wasn't your swooning, "I need a man to do everything for me" kind of gal. She was independent, intelligent and gah, I need to read it again. lol

Date: 2008-04-02 06:19 pm (UTC)My problem with most het fic for this fandom is it's very much of the 'five friends form a band and support Nsync on tour and they all fall in love' Which, just no.

Date: 2008-04-02 06:17 pm (UTC)Fandom-wise...well, I'd really like to see long MCR fic, maybe something Bob-centric. Because I'm slightly obsessed. Though...it would be awesome to read a huge piece about Mikey being a hero too.
I also wonder why, with all the crack that's written in bandom, there's not more werewolf fic.
no subject
Date: 2008-04-02 06:24 pm (UTC)That sounds amazing! I especially like the adventure element. There's not enough adventure stories in the world.
Your fandom choice. Just, gah! BOB! And Mikey being a hero! Now I want that too. I'm so impressed with people who can write epic length fic. It's such an amazing thing.
There should be more werewolf fic. If MCR could be werewolves it would fit nicely with the FOB vampire thing.

Date: 2008-04-02 10:00 pm (UTC)My feeling's exactly.
And yeah, I wish I could maintain character enough to write an epic.
Re: werewolf fic...
*clears throat*
Umm... here. *runs away*

He’s been around long enough, playing with enough bands, done sound for countless more that Bob’s resigned himself to a packless existence.
Then he meets My Chemical Romance.
*****************
Bob is beginning to wonder if he has a sign that says ‘tackle me’ pinned to his back.
Then he untangles himself, looks into Frank Iero’s eyes and sees a familiar spark there. It vanishes too quickly for him to comment on it. But he knows this indicator now – Frank is like him. He waits for the acknowledgement, the whispered ‘you’re like me’, but the words never come. It takes him most of the tour to realize that Frank isn’t being overly cautious – Frank has no idea. Frank, with his hyperactivity and downright pornographic stage presence, thinks he’s normal. Alright, maybe not that. But yeah... Frank thinks he’s human.
The realization knocks the wind right out of him, leaves Bob shaky for most of the performance, so much so that he misses balancing out the guitars at sound check and Bert flies into a hissy fit worthy of a Broadway diva.
Afterward, he finds a quiet corner and bangs his head against the wall.

Date: 2008-04-02 10:16 pm (UTC)Oh my god, YES! That!
Bob. Packless. That's just tragic.
Then he untangles himself, looks into Frank Iero’s eyes and sees a familiar spark there.
I was so happy here, then no! He's still alone, and frustrated and gah! This is so good. Bob werewolf!
Just the idea gives me glee.

~~~~~
Frank knew something has changed when the dreams started up again. The first time he’d leapt up from sleep, a scream caught behind his teeth, cold sweat flattening his hair and drawing a cold line down his back, he’d barely been able to rein in the hysteria. He’s worked so hard to push the dreams back to shadows – he’d first tried appeasement, drawing images on his skin in blood and ink, hoping that the pain and bloodshed would be enough of a sacrifice. That worked for a time- the nightmares slumbered, except for full moon nights but then… well, three nights of insomnia wasn’t much of a hardship. Sure, the wail of his dreams voices crackled in him, but he could burn off the wildness they called up on the stage. The band helped; in more ways than providing an outlet, a means to lance the turmoil bubbling under his skin.
Then he met Bob, and that was when Frank felt the last piece of the puzzle slide into place. Bob had just looked at him, and they’d understood each other. When Bob joined the band full-time, Frankie’s dreams finally quieted, sliding into their proper place in the shadows. His family was solid around him and he was playing music… it was perfect.
Then... and then Mikey went away, more quiet than he’d ever been, something panicked skittering behind his eyes. Then he came back. And the Mikey Way who returned was…different. Which turned out to be a good thing, because not even two nights in the tour after Mikey’s return, the dreams returned. Frankie sat breathing, sweat matting his eyelashes. The taste of blood was thick on his tongue and he. was. HUNGRY.
He'd huddled in the blankets, shivering against the force of the bloodthirsty spirits howling for flesh in him. Unable to keep to stillness, he stumbled out of his bunk and headed to the tiny kitchen, to make himself a huge fake meat sandwich. It took far longer than usual – his hands wouldn’t stop shaking. Frank stood against the counter, not bothering with a plate, just leaning over the counter and devouring the sandwich in huge jaw-clicking bites. The yowling inside him wasn’t appeased. He sagged against the counter, taking deep gulps of air, trying to quiet his internal voices.
“You should just eat the hamburger Ray brought. It can be replaced.”
Frank flinched away from the quiet voice.
“Wha…” he managed, before meeting Mikey’s eyes.
All evasions died on his lips as he stared at Mikey.
“I don’t know how you’ve survived so long, denying yourself. No wonder you’re sick all the time.” The bassist said.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Frank hissed.
Mikey shook his head, smiling. “I don’t know how I missed it before.” When he met Frank’s eyes this time the weight of his gaze calling up shivering. “Frank, you are killing yourself trying to repress your wolf.”
Frank took a deep breath and willed his hands to stop shaking.
“Mikey, what the fuck are you talking about?” He repeated.
Mikey watched him for a moment, a frown wrinkling his forehead. Then he leaned back, vinyl creaking under him, and started talking.
Sex. Kinks (BDSM, especially. And I've read something about sensory depravation - blinfolds and headphones so the bottom can't anticipate what the dom is doing to him). No fluff, no vanilla, no hurt/comfort, no M-preg, no golden shower, no reference to "his manhood" or whatever. PWP or missing scene. You know, stuff like that *g*
Date: 2008-04-02 07:35 pm (UTC)Well. I'd want a long, snark and UST-filled Trickyfish which deals with the different places they come from. I know class in the USA is not the same thing as class in the UK, but I can't help imagining that Diane Bass must have been very dubious about Chris and Bev, and Chris's tough , impoverished upbringing must have contrasted so strongly with Lance being treated 'like a little prince' in his comfortable, middle-class home. I'd love to read a story which has them learning to understand and appreciate each other despite and because of their differences, but slowly and perhaps somewhat unwillingly.
I spose I ought to try and write it, but I doubt I would ever get the specifics right. It probably needs an author from Mississippi and one from Chris's kind of background...
Date: 2008-04-02 07:57 pm (UTC)Custom written story? Well, it would be MCR centric (of course :-) but I like when other bands make appearances. On-tour stories are always nice, especially when they deal with the daily humdrum stuff too, and it should definitely have lots of interactions between all the guys.
I have a great love of crossovers so that's something else that would be nice to see, a crossover with Torchwood for example, or Buffy, or X-Files. (I remember a post in
There should be lots of great dialogue, and it should be both serious and funny. Smut isn't necessary but a nice bonus, especially if it's used to serve the story and not just as interludes. A real plot is always nice too.
Character wise I would prefer if it was either Bob, Gerard, or Frank centric and the main pairing should either be Bob/Gerard, Gerard/Frank, or Bob/Frank, or a threesome.
Date: 2008-04-02 09:08 pm (UTC)On tour stories are some of my favourite kinds!
That Torchwood cross actually sounds very awesome, and plausible. With a huge bonus of no Mikey death.
Bob/Gerard. Hmmmmm. Though I'm in a Frank belongs to Mikey mood at the moment.
I love your ideal story so much!
Date: 2008-04-02 08:29 pm (UTC)It would totally be a popslash and bandom crossover! It has to be! All my boys in one place? Holy shit, it drives me nuts. I'd totally want it to be with Pete either with AJ or JC, I really don't know why. No sex necessary and there doesnt even need to be crossover hook up. Really, a story where JC or AJ help Pete figure out how to get into Patrick's pants and win his heart would be the shit! There would be a lot of snarky dialogue and lots of scenes on a bus. It would be happy and hilarious with a lot of obvious humor and a lot of subtle humor.
I can see it now and its wonderful *sigh*
Date: 2008-04-02 09:35 pm (UTC)What I'd like to be written (for me or someone else, I'm not picky) differs a little from author to author. There was one in the Sweet Charity thing who I almost bid on because I'd love her to write a story that deals with religious mythology. Not God and Jesus, but Lucifer and (Christian) demons and such. I'm such a fan of that. Give me a fantasy book on angels and demons and I'm happy. Obviously that would fit perfectly in Supernatural, but it'd be interesting to see a Jared and Jensen take on that, too. Aside from the plot, I want sex in my story. Lots and lots (but not so much that it gets repetitive) of steamy hot sex, preferably with some d/s elements. Mmm....
Date: 2008-04-02 09:58 pm (UTC)Custom story: I've been thinking about this a lot recently - what I would love to read, just once, is a fic in which things are vaguely realistic. Like first time sex that isn't perfect and mind-blowing but is actually kind of awkward and funny. Or GSF wherein the bed or whatever is actually a little too small and the whole things is kinda complicated and people end up getting elbows in the face or pushed off the bed accidentally. The crack!fic possibilities for that kind of thing are endless but no one ever seems to explore them!
no subject
Date: 2008-04-02 10:05 pm (UTC)That's a fantastic idea! First time sex in fic tends towards the wonderful and I don't buy that. It's often messy and awkward and plain disappointing. And yes, the GSF would be so much fun! Poor Ryan tumbling off the bed at the worst moment. Hee!
no subject
Date: 2008-04-02 10:22 pm (UTC)LOL! Exactly! Poor Ryan just doesn't have the body mass to not end up shoved on to the floor, and Brendon would be all over-enthusiastic and flaily so he'd be the one who accidentally knocks Ryan off the bed and then he'd laugh hysterically about doing it. And Jon would be doing his best not to laugh while checking to see if Ryan is okay, and Spencer would just be lying there, rolling his eyes and trying to remember when his life used to be normal and didn't involved ill-conceived group sex on a hotel bed that really isn't made for four people.
Date: 2008-04-03 01:15 pm (UTC)Um, there are many things (fic that deals with body image issues? there has to be bandom body image fic, right?) but the one that leaps to mind - centaurs. Popslash urban fantasy centaurs written by someone who knows horses ... no, really.
no subject
Date: 2008-04-03 01:26 pm (UTC)There are body image bandom fics, sadly the ones I found dealt with Mikey thinking he was fat, which lead him to being anorexic. And then he died, which I may still be bitter about.
There may be more on the Panic side, where Jon is 'normal' boy sized as opposed to the rest.
Popslash urban fantasy centaurs written by someone who knows horses ... no, really.
But then he comes home, things are fine, he has Frank ( which pains me because Mikey/Frank is my happy place at the moment ) and the writer so obviously gets sick of the story, so she gives him a heart attack. Then the next part is Gerard at his funeral. I was so annoyed.
People are stupid. I've actually read people seriously say that Frank is fat, and a feeder. Because he feeds all his band so they put on weight too. Apart from Mikey, who of course doesn't eat at all. That was an actual comment in a comm.
Some people make me despair.
Date: 2008-04-03 02:17 pm (UTC)Which makes Frank beam and plot and plan this lavish dinner date where they all sit around and just eat. Except Mikey who picks at his food and won't touch anything that's not salad.
Which makes Frank sad, and Gerard mad, and there would be issues!
