I've wanted to get one for ages (of a llama and a cat, since I was 22 or so). But the evils of ink are one of the things my mother harps on a lot. Like she takes it as a serious disappointment that one of her brothers has some. (Actually, considering her sisters, I wouldn't be surprised if they had some, too. But Mom doesn't know about it.)
So, I have very mixed reactions to them. And pretty much think a lot of them that just look like typical, everyone has one like it, "fashionable" tatts are pointless. But I like the idea of something very significant and personal made permanent.
(Seriously. I found out, about six months before I came out to my mom, that she'd been worrying that maybe I was gay since I was in my early teens. And that upset me a lot. But I think she worries even more that my brother and I might have possibly gotten a tattoo that she doesn't know about. It really freaks her out.)
