Did you know that Howie's not gay?

Camp Sparkle. Man, I love it so.
I got back yesterday and have been thinking how to post about the week and honestly. There's nothing I can say that would do it justice. This is the fourth Camp Sparkle and each time I think it can't get better. It does.
The house we stayed in was amazing. Such a beautiful place with a hot-tub, trampoline, comfy squishy couches and fantastic bathrooms. Ours had this very cool shower and also a huge bath, which I spent close to two hours in one morning. Laying there in the sunshine-filled bathroom, listening to people laughing and talking downstairs, my book at hand and just. Yeah. The kitchen, where I spent so long sitting at the table, listening to conversations and surrounded by people I love. The dinners we had each night, with delicious food prepared by various Camp Sparklers -- and the blue spotlights of course. Those were kind of awesome and the fact that most people arrived and left in a sparkly, hot pink limo. Because really, that's how all Camp Sparklers should travel.
There were running jokes. He's on a horse! Howieeeeeeeeeeeee, Badger, badger, badger! Which of course leads us to the paring of Camp Sparkle 2010: Judger. Yes, that is Justin/Badger.
We had the five word story, and footage watching. Not just sparkly stuff but Doctor Who. Glee. Be Good Johnny Weir -- and oh my goodness. He is adorable! There were talks around the hot-tub and discussions in the living room where we discussed popslash and fic. A day when people wore tiaras just because. I found mine yesterday and put it on, and was promptly looked at like I was crazy. That didn't happen at Camp. There tiaras are a perfectly valid thing to wear.
The last night there was the usual reading of the five word story and the funniest telling of the Lava Lamp story ever!. Complete with KC reading the fic while various other people acted it out. So we had Rikes and Saba as Justin and Joey. Iconis as Lance and somehow, also JC. Chalcopyrite as Chris and of course. Special mention goes to the vodka bottle that went above and beyond as Lance and JC's pulsating dick. Seriously. I've never laughed so much watching them.
But you know, despite all that, what sums up Camp Sparkle to me are the people. Most I only see once a year but I adore them all. I love the constant hugs and small touches. That someone will walk past and touch your shoulder or back just because they can. I love that I could be sitting and someone will come along and straighten my necklace or hair, because it just feels so comfortable. I love the way we always say goodbye with a hug line. In which I mean I hate the hug lines because they always make me cry. I love the people.

Date: 2010-05-15 09:48 am (UTC)We should have worked on the plan to barricade ourselves in the house. Screw the people who wanted it next.
The lava lamp reading was one of the best things ever! I'm glad Rikes took so many pictures, though I'm sure I'll look deranged due to laughing so much.

Date: 2010-05-17 03:22 pm (UTC)I was shopping today and came across a shop selling mini lava lamps really cheaply. If only I'd seen them a few weeks back.

Date: 2010-05-15 01:52 pm (UTC)I'm not a very touchy-feely kind of person but at Camp Sparkle even I feel the need to hug and touch people all the time. It feels right there, in a way it almost never does otherwise for me.
