I don't think I mentioned here but James' cinema/carer card came through. Which meant it made sense to sign up for the unlimited cineworld card too. Less than £14 a month for two people to go to the cinema as often as they want. It can't be passed up.
Which is why today we've been to see Sky Line. It was nothing that outstanding, the usual entertaining sci-fic
I was on board about the aliens taking over the world. Fact is, if hostile aliens ever do decide to attack we're screwed. I mean, they've achieved intergalactic space travel, of course they're going to win. So we get to day three and all the cast have been sucked up into the light, and I was sure that was the end. But no! I was fine with the hero and heroine being pulled up together while kissing, it made sense in terms of the story. Surely that was the end, I thought. But again, no. We then saw the inside of the alien craft, where humans were having their heads ripped off and their brains used as some kind of fuel for the aliens. Which again, was fine. They obviously wanted the humans for something and why not brain fuel?
I was even okay with the hero's head being pulled off and his brain taken out while the heroine sobbed and writhed within the mess of other humans lying dead on the floor. But the hero's brain being a different colour? The hero's brain being put into an alien as some kind of power source, and that alien retaining the conciousness of the hero, who then listened to the beating heart of his unborn baby ( the heroine was a few weeks pregnant through all this ) who then stroked her head and stomach with his huge alien claw-like hands. What the hell was that? Seriously, what? He's now a huge, hulking alien in a massive spaceship filled with countless other huge hulking aliens. What's supposed to happen here? They're going to go on and have happy times as all around them humans have their brains ripped out?
He's a huge hulking alien. She's a pregnant human who's brain could be ripped out at any moment. The relationship is over.
Really film company, just kill all the humans already. That wasn't a spark of hope you gave, it was the most ridiculous ending ever that had me staring at the screen and thinking, what the hell just happened?
