30 Days of Fanfic Day 8
Jun. 30th, 2011 09:23 amThe last few days I've been delighted at the pictures of Mikey's shorts and Gerard's short shorts, but the pictures that have surfaced today are the best yet. They're amazing, the only thing that would have been better was if Mikey had slipped to the side and sat on Gerard's knee again. Or if he'd have kept his shorts on too, and there would have been bare Way legs pressed together.

I need to know what Ray's holding in the below picture. It looks like some kind of barbed sex toy. ETA: It's a plushie Jet Star, thanks

ETA2: Picture removed, I don't want a picture of the face-licker in my journal.
Due to the strike Corey's off today, so he's upstairs chattering away to his friends on the X Box, while I'm going to read and attempt some writing, especially as the Scout meeting ran late last night so I didn't get back online for more than a few minutes.
First though, more coffee, washing hung on the line and then words shall me mine. Or I'll end up staring at the file, before deleting more stuff and then going and watching some downloaded TV.
8 -- Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.
I do write OCs, but the ones I do write have always been the bad guys I need in my stories. I'm not down with using the fandom people in that type of role so create new people to maim and hurt and generally do evil things. Though thinking about it, in one of the few Panic only stories I wrote there is an OC who isn't bad, he was a merch guy who was Spencer's boyfriend and I grew to like him a lot. Oh, and in the Serendipity AU I had two OCs, and I really liked one of those. I wanted him to go on and have a good life once he'd broken up with Mikey. But mostly my OC are the bad guys, pimps and sex fair owners and dodgy truck drivers.
I did actually start writing a female OC for something I'm working on now, but I was feeling uncomfortable that I was using her as a plot device, and after talking it over cut her out of the story completely. That was a decision based on time only, if I'd have had more I would have expanded her role and made her an important part of the story so that the breakup was more natural and not used just to get two guys together. I've kept the scene she was in, so who knows, she may appear in the future.
I know a lot of people don't like OCs but I think if they're done well they're a good thing. Of course that also means if they're done badly they can be terrible, which includes the dreaded Mary Sue. Which is hopefully something I'll never write, even if it means you'll never get to read the inspiring tale of the beautiful English girl with flashing blue orbs and flowing golden locks who goes to be a nanny on My Chem's tour and then when Mike falls ill fills in on drums while helping with backing vocals. There would also be a threesome with Mikey and Alicia and a thrilling scene where the beautiful English nanny/drummer gets tough and bodily hauls the band plus Bob into the same room and tells them to talk already. She would also be Ryan's best friend, one of the people Pete likes to hug and hand sew outfits for all the bandom pets. Also, give the best head ever.

I watched tv and wrote! I was productive today.
OCs can be great. I actually like OMCs in stories, even though I know many people don't. And of course now I can't think of any either. Watch, as soon as I go to bed I'll remember loads.
