pikasafire is running her own unofficial Nanowrimo this month, 50k between the 16th of this month to the 16th of next.

I considered signing but the only story I have at the moment that could even approach 50k already has a chunk written, but then I read that 50k could be spread out over multiple stories, which would work nicely for me. I've the auction story to finish, and an almost complete fill from the killjoys kink meme that could easily be made into a h/c fill. Plus, looking through my gdocs last week I came across the 1.6k of hooker fic I abandoned when I went in another direction for my BBB, so I guess I could use that somehow. Not continue as hookers though, there has to be a limit of how many times I write those. Plus the co-write to start if we get sorted that fast.

I don't know. I want to finish those wips before holiday fic season, but 50k is a lot of words for one month. But at the same time, it's still under 2k a day and that's doable, plus, low stress challenge, no one is going to drum me from fandom if I fail. Welcome to my brain people, the one that thinks these things over even though anyone that actually knows me knows for a fact I'll have signed by the end of the day.

So you know, come sign up with me. It's any fandon and misery enjoys company and all that.

We're off to nanna's soon and then the cinema this afternoon. Which suggests I should actually get dressed. Maybe in ten minutes or so.

You link to the BEST POSTS. I'm considering signing up for it--as everyone could just see, I have, uh, a few WIPs. Some of them are only like a few thousands words and some editing from being finished.

I really don't have a 50k story in me just now, but finishing stuff that would go over 50k? Hell yeah.

I'm very tempted, and I'm sure you'd have no trouble hitting 50k. Maybe I could even have a status bar, I've never had one of those before.

Hee. Yeah, so basically I estimated most of my WIPs to hit 10k at least with a few ones probably exceeding 50k if I want to do them right.


I didn't sign up for Nano last year, but still tried to get in 1667 words for as long as possible and I ended up with 43k. Status bars are awesome! :D

I have failed utterly at Nano in the past. Granted, November isn't my best time of year but I never know when the brain fog will hit anyway and then I just feel bad about failing the challenge ...

But there's the Bandom fusion that has been eating my brain, with Gerard the foreseer and Frank the telekinetic and Spencer's an owl and Brendon's empathic and, and, and everyone. I really do want to get it written out. I have a h/c bingo card ... *dithers*

That's happened to me before, comments going missing. It's frustrating because I never know if the original one will turn up or not.

Saying that. I've never joined Nano for the reason you say, due to the time of year. Plus, it seems very official in some ways, while this is something that's low key. Hopefully anyway.

Your story idea sounds amazing, I say give it a go, there'll be no shame if you don't get it done, and people will be cheering you on.

Yeah, Nano can feel rather impersonal as well, so maybe this is better. And of course, in Bandom I can say things like Spencer is an owl and Gabe really is a cobra and people don't back away slowly. *g*

I know, that's how I'm looking at it too. Plus, having some kind of challenge always helps focus my attention.

Plus, with it being unofficial it will mean less stress, and that's always good.

2k a day isn't that much, yeah right. You are a writing wonder! I feel glad when I get over 500 words a day.

The problem is, I can easily hit 2k when I'm in the right mood, doing it for a whole month is another matter.

I saw Planet of the Apes, just got back in fact. It was so good, I enjoyed it a lot.

That said, I totally think you should do it and take it as an opportunity to finish a whole bunch of short stories! If you keep all of them under 10,000 words it will mean 5 new stories. Think about it!!

I did! But this challenge is going to be an opportunity to actually finish things off, which I really need to do.

It would be lovely if I could get stories around 10k, that sounds like a nice number.

I had a good day, though the cinema was a bit busier than I like it. I get spoiled due to usually going during the week.

I'm seriously debating whether to do the alterna!Nanowrimo. On the one hand, it'd be a good way to get some wips done (there's no way I'd even consider it if Pikasafire was adhering to the idea of 1 50k or more fic.)

On the other, I don't think I'll be doing much (if any) writing from 9/8 - 9/11. I'm traveling to an MCR concert AND hanging out with fangirls. Then, the following week is my birthday AND traveling to an MCR concert AND hanging out with fangirls.

So, I've got about 6 days out of the 30 where writing will be the farthest thing from my mind.

I'm still thinking, what the hell have I done? But I have wips that I really want to finish, especially an auction fic which is horribly overdue, and tend to write better in challenges. Otherwise I let myself coast without that firm deadline.

I'm sure you saw how quickly I folded. I was all wait...I don't think I've written 50k in one month(or ok 50k of actually finished shit I could post at some time) I think last june-august I wrote 60k?(maybe 70)*but I'm not going to go back and count(7k was for my original hbb idea last year that stalled and wouldn't let me finish it)

I think I have five? ideas I'm going to work on this(Spy au*why yes it has become something*facepalm*, FBI Verse, TiWl Gerard parts, maybe the abduction au I talked with bootson about, more dust verses, more SPN au, maybe more of the fantastic four au)
