The meter reader has just knocked on the door and about took a year off my life. Really, is there any need to knock that hard? I think not.

The decorating has moved onto our bedroom now. At the moment it's a mess of half-stripped walls and bare floor boards with the curtains tucked up and everything in chaos. Then last night the alarm clock stopped working. It's a Garfield one I've had forever so it's not surprising that it gave up the ghost, but still, that didn't help last night when we were trying to find an alarm clock that actually worked. In the end Corey produced a travel size version, this weird thing that lights up different colours depending which way you hold it up. It's not something that'll work in the long term though as it's got no back light, which is why I woke up, and when I eventually worked out how to get the light on, was horrified to see it was only 4am.

It's the start of mini nano today, and checking the list I was surprised to see I'd pledged 300 words and not the 200 I'd been imagining. I keep telling myself 300 words is nothing, three drabbles only, but it seems a lot when you haven't been writing much. Still, I've been working on my horrible overdue charity fic lately, over 10k and they're actually doing something finally, which is a relief.

I'll be working on that, and my bandomstuffsit story and maybe get the killjoys h/c embers verse ficlet done. Which, big plans for how ploddingly slow I've been lately.

Yesterday

eledhwenlin asked about stories, and I told her about two of the many I think about. Both come from a meme, and both are very similar, in that very little happens in them, they're multi band, with one set in a strip mall and one a diner. And no, for anyone who's laughing right now, the diner doesn't get hit by a meteor or the strip mall get blown up.

Totally stealing this from eledwenlin, but entertain me before I head back into decorating hell. Tell me about the stories you're writing or the ones you would write if you could, be that if you don't write at all or that they're beyond you right now.

For me that would be the prequel to Sound Tracking, which when I do write it will take a lot of work and careful writing, both to get back into the feel of that universe and to tell the story that's there to be told.

Now you. *chin hands*

The story noodling around in my head right now is for the reverse-bang, in music form. It is a really different perspective than what I'm used to, and a lot of fun. :D

But! I can commiserate. I'm doing the mini-nano for a short-but-intimidating chunk of academic writing I need to do this month. I've been doing a lot of research, but it is time to sit down and WRITE. *quails*

That sounds really interesting. Does that mean you're going to post a mix and your story is spinning from that?

Actually sitting down and writing is the issue. I've kept telling myself I'll do it later all day today and now it's nearly five and I still haven't opened a file.

Still, we'll both do it. I have faith.
